Sacramento County Listing and Sales Statistics for March 2016

Sacramento County experienced a -26.7% decrease in number of homes listed FOR SALE in March 2016 vs. the same month a year ago.

For the same period there was -2.4% decrease in homes SOLD, while Pending Sales increased 4.8%. 

Interest rates remain low.  For those able to find suitable homes, it's a GREAT time to buy.

It is a huge drop in the inventory, even seems in March we expect to see more listings coming for sale.

Hi Myrl -- I hope those April showers in Sacramento will sprout some new listings very soon.   Like other communities across the country --- inventory of available properties for sale remains a concern.

Myrl, The number of homes sold went down in March but I suspect this is amore a function of the available listings falling each month.

Thank you all for your comments.  Many of you have addressed shrinking inventory which seems to be affecting markets across the country.  Hopefully, we will see that aleviated at some point.

You forgot to mention, Myrl, that our median sales price is now $305, which is up from $280K in January and $298K in February. On top of few homes for sale in Sacramento, home buyers are now in danger of getting priced out of the market!! My own listing inventory is cut about in half for this time of year.

Myrl, I just read Elizabeth's comment above. Prices are increasing quickly and she is correct some potential buyers will get priced out of the market. That has happened here but certainly at lower price levels than you folks.

Hi Myrl Jeffcoat your short and to the point report is good and for it to be better your insight about the statistics should be at least 300 words for it to be picked up and ranked through search.  The search engines put less emphasis on posts less than that 300 word threshold.  Images that contain words are not counted as words but as images.  Keep up the great work and let us know more of what you think about your statistics.
