Rebuilding Together(formally Christmas in April)
Saturday, April 26 was Manchester Connecticut's annual Rebuilding Together Day. The event was formally known as Christmas in April. For those who are unfamiliar with the program, volunteers get together to work on several homes in our town that need repairs from painting, lawn work, planting, building ramps and decks or fixing roofs. All materials are donated by local businesses and donations. I volunteer with my fellow Democratic Committee members but there are many other groups. I took to the yard work, raking, clipping and supervising! We had a great day and we were all proud of our accomplishments. After all the work was done, the town treated all the volunteers to a delicious picnic in one of our parks. Once again, all the food was donated by local businesses and staffed by volunteers. Some of us were so fired up with our cleaning efforts that many of us continued in our own yards. Although the work got down much quicker when you worked as a team! It's A Good Life! Stephanie
