I Am Still A Luddite

When I moved companies in Virginia Beach I found out I am still a luddite (gadget hating person). I have my computer and cell phone but don't do texting, picture sending, pda or smartphone. I hate those things but the company requires us to be available to answer emails quickly and be able to text and even IM from the same device. Now I have to find one and have procrastinated for 3 weeks. I am on Verizon so I stuck with a Pearl 8130, Blackberry 8830, Treo 700 WX, Verizon SMT 5580 and the Samsung i760. I just think getting a smart phone is just going a bit far with technology. When does it all end.

hhhmmm, I wonder if it ia an "Allen" thing .... but I am like you....I hate text messages, picture phones and other such gadgets too.

I am so there with you, but I have come to realize that if I want to sell to the younger crowd, I need to know how to do these things. Yes I learned to text and my 20/30 yr. old clients are very impressed. I think what I really don't like about the tech things, is that it never turns off. When I need an hour or a vacation, the damn thing is always on, someone can get you somehow. There are times when I don't want to be found....Solace you know? One thing though - you will get used to it just like we did to pagers, cell phones, computers, etal Have a great week!!

Luddite....I've learned a new word today. And, hey you never know, you might actually end up appreciating some of the new technology. This time last year, I didn't like it when people sent me texts. Now, I admit I like to send texts when I'm in situations when I can't talk but I can text.
