Dealing with Dandelions

When we have dandelions in our lawns, we usually turn to weed killers or the special tools have been developed to dig up the dandelions.  Regardless of the removal techniques are used, many of the dandelions survive to grow to maturity.

As I photowalk through Kentlands, I have a different approach to dandelions.  I like to photograph them.  You might not have noticed but every dandelion is different.  Dandelions provide some of the color that we know means that spring has arrived.

Enjoy the dandelions in your neighborhood by taking photographs as you  photowalk and seek the colors of the season. No, I do not expect that you will photograph dandelions but I hope that you will walk for good health.

These photographs are from my photowalk through our home community of Kentlands, in Gaithersburg, Maryland.

They sure do look pretty in your photos, but not on our grass...

Roy Kelley I recall fondly of eating dandelions in the early Spring. Later, the plant makes great soups.

Good Morning Roy Kelley

Ahhh...the dastardly dandelion!!! Great pictures of a flower people deem as a weed.

Goof morning Roy,

Dandelion greens in the salad last night; more greens with spinach tonight and may even do a batch of dandelion wine.

Make yourself an astonishing day.

They are pretty... in someone else's yard! Yard tip: spray for weeds in late fall or early winter and your spring yard will be virtually dandelion free. Use the professional stuff, not the watered down stuff from the big box stores.

Roy, definitely have some yellow flowers coming up in the grass, as if a neighbor doesn't take care of them, they are airborn!    I have that tool to pop them out.

Good morning Roy. Mary re-blogged this and I really enjoyed it. Yes, I try to remove my dandelions. Your view though is beautiful as are your photos.

The are such a lovely, intricate flower.  Too bad they  grow in the grass and spread allergic misery.
