The largest spring time festival in the country begins in San Antonio this week.  Yes, Fiesta San Antonio 2016 starts this Thursday, April 14th, and continues through April 24th.  It all started back in 1891 as a one parade event to honor the memory of heroes of the Alamo, and to celebrate the Battle of Jacinto, which lead to Texas Independence from Mexico. This makes the 125th year for celebrating the victory and honoring the heroes of Texas history.

Fiesta San Antonio 2016Starting in 1959, the Fiesta San Antonio Commission coordinated the Fiesta planning activities for over 100 events sponsored by non-profit organizations, and over 75,000 volunteers who support all the events. Millions of party-goers have turned out for what has become a real Texas sized festival which is celebrated every year in April. More than 20 percent of Fiesta participants have travel to San Antonio from out of state, and even the world.

The most popular events are the Cavaliers Night River Parade, The Battle of Flowers(which all started back in 1891) and Fiesta Flambeau Night Parades, the Fiesta Oyster Bake, and the Night in Old San Antonio at La Villita. It’s 10 day celebration with events going on all over the city. You’ll want to get the full guide for Fiesta San Antonio 2016, and enjoy all the fun that all the locals have here every spring time.

Fiesta San Antonio 2016 is full of cultural activities with a variety of foods, drinks, and entertainment for the whole family. The children will love the carnival events that have rides, games, and prizes for all ages. Be sure to visit all the patriotic events which start on Saturday, April 16th with the Texas Cavaliers Patriotic & Historical Ball, and San Jacinto Victory Celebration. Check out The Air Force Day, Army Day, Marines Day, and Navy Day at the Alamo starting on Monday, April 18th.

The athletic events start with the Walk for Autism on Saturday, April 16th, and include other events like the Fiesta 10K Run/Walk, Lung Force 5K Run/Walk, and UTSA Football Spring Game, just to mention a few.

Thanks, Bob. I am planning on it this week. My favorite has always been the Battle of Flowers Parade on Fridays.
