Dear Readers -

In this post, Larry Johnston  from Elkhart, IN, shares his professional development plan with us in this post. He explains what ActiveRain has to offer each of us and what he, personally, chose to enhance his career.

Larry's Blog is full of wonderful posts to read about real estate and Best Practices. He also writes about his area. I have enjoyed learning about that part of the country.

 Have a successful day -
Lynn

"Blog and Grow Rich" on Active Rain!

I became a Real Estate agent on July 1, 2009 and thanks to my wifeEvelyn Johnston , I became a member of Active Rain within 3 weeks and shortly afterwords, became a Rainmaker.  No, I hadn't reached 500,000 points yet. I subscribed to AR until I reached that goal. I don't know of any place else, where you no longer have to subscribe and pay money to be a member. It was FREE to join and participate.

There is a lot to learn here and at whatever pace you choose to take.

I started out Blogging about local subdivisions in the County, but did not comment or read the other members blogs for a while.  If I had it to do over, I would have started reading the blogs immediately.

After reading other members blogs, I started learning names and where they lived. I learned about what the Real Estate market was doing in other areas, as compared to mine. As I started commenting on other blogs and clicking on the "Like" button, I started getting points awarded for my efforts.

The Points Rankings became fun , as it showed my progress and how I ranked with other members of my State and even the whole AR platform.  Many of us are competitive in this business, so it became another way that was fun.

That is not all Active Rain had to offer.  There were Contests every month that were geared to teach us various techniques in Real Estate, such as blogging, phone calling, making videos, and other fun things.

Active Rain University is a great resources, as I was able to choose topics in Real Estate that I was unfamiliar with and was able to listen to the information at my leisure and access it over and over.

Then along came the Q & A section, where I could ask a question and it gave a chance for all the members to respond with an answer, suggestion, or even a similar experience that they had.

Now, after almost 7 years, I have become friends with people from all over the country, some by blogging, some from phone calls and others, from AR meetups in our area while enjoying dinner and great conversation.

In conclusion, I now have over a million points, Thousands of Friends and have written almost 2000 blogs........ and because of Active Rain, I am not one of the statistics that we learned about, where most of the new agents drop out of the business within the first 3 years.

I don't know anywhere that I could have gone,

to get the education that Active Rain has.... at My Fingertips.
