40 Days With God

The number 40 is a Biblical number.  In looking in The Word the number 40 is mentioned in the Bible over 120 times.

We learn from God's Word that Moses, Noah, Elijah, Jonah, and eveh Jesus spent 40 days with God.  During their 40 days they conquered despair, won battles, overcame depression, and defeated temptation.

Noah and his family spent 40 Days in the ark

Moses spent 40 Days on Mt. Sinai receiving the Law from God

The spies of Israel spied out the Promised Land for 40 days

Elijah was strengthened by God for 40 Days from one meal

Jonah preached repentance to Nineveh for 40 Days

Jesus was tempted by Satan 40 Days in the wilderness

Faith will be the key in your commitment to submit to God for 40 Days.

"Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen."  Hebrews 11:1

In our lives we have sought after other things such as jobs, money, mates, love..., the list goes on.  But when we learn to seek God first in everything, everything else will come.

Matthew 6:33 says, "But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and His righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you."

We do not have to spend countless hours worrying about how we are going to make it, being too anxious for things to come, or trying to figure things out.  While we are trying to figure things out God has already worked them out.

Don't be too consumed with everyday life that you do not have time for God.  God created you and He is the Author and Finisher of your faith.  God knows what is best for you and He knows just when to bring things into your life.

I beseech you for the next 40 days to make a conscious decision to seek God like never before and I believe the answers to your prayers will not only be heard by God but will be answered as well.

Sonya after losing a child, my prayer partner and I read and studied The 40 Days of Purpose, by Rick Warren. We completed 1 chapter a day for 40 days in a roll. On the 40th day, I realized the answer was in the 2nd chapter. I recommend spending 40 days on a frequent basis with God, even during the good times.

Sonya, you don't know how much I needed to read this today.  There are many things going on in my life at this moment that have me extremely stressed and I am making a commitment to God, to you and to all my friends on AR that I will seek God and His will in these matters for the next 40 days and will trust Him to meet the needs that my family and I have.  Thank you for sharing this post.
