I wrote a post last month Why is harder then it should be to rent a condo . I hope you take the time to read it . The situation became very sticky and every time I was going to draw up the lease terms changed . The other agent said no wait . The tenants wanted to negotiate the monthly rent down by $100 a month which for the condition of the condo was more in my opinion in line with rental value for the area and very fair The other agent wanted to add verbiage that was not agreeable to the tenant . The tenant decided to walk away if their terms were not agreed upon.
After going back and forth saying the same thing over and over I sent the agent an email with out offer and never heard back from her . I waited a few weeks and seeing in our MLS it was still available called the agent to inform her the tenants were still interested . As soon as she heard my name she hung up on me . I was shocked as I had always been polite and helpful to her . I left her a message asking why she was upset with me as I was only doing what the clients wanted . I received no reply
Now a month has gone by I was looking on the computer for a rental for them and the tenants/clients call. Hello I said it is so funny you called I was just looking up rentals for you . He then in a shaky voice said my door bell rang and I thought it was my father but guess who it was . It was the woman who owned the condo . She asked if she could speak with him . She told him a story of whoa .How she fired the agent as she was misrepresented . She liked him and his father and wanted to rent to them . Handed him an application had them fill it out and wanted a check for $500 to take the property off the market . They really wanted the condo so they filled out the application. She gave them her address and phone number and would expect the check .
I was shocked as it was still listed I was looking at it . Oh and she was coming there tomorrow with a lease for them to sign . I think I messed up he said . I should have called you right away but we really like this place . I then asked how much does she want for rent
Well things do change . He called her back and the rent went up $200 a month . What a wacky situation .
How did she get all his information to go to his house
I also called the agent and you would think she would call back
The saddest part of this story is this place is perfect for them . Why do people have to act like this . If everyone just communicated with each other through the proper channels the tenant would have a nice place to live and the landlord a good tenant .
I am hoping there is place waiting for them as these people are special to me . Yes communication was out of sorts but stuff happens
