A very popular real estate coach says that a good real estate agent should have the heart of a teacher.
How does having the heart of a teacher effect you as a consumer? Well, you may have purchased or sold a home before, and feel very comfortable about the entire process. That’s great! However, real estate related processes and procedures are frequently updated. While you are keeping abreast of everything in your own professional specialty, you may not have had the time to also keep up with every change occurring in the real estate industry.
As a full-time real estate professional, an important part of my job is staying current on the local market and on any updates that may impact you as a home buyer or seller. Whether you are a first time home buyer, first time home seller, or have bought or sold a home in the past, my goal is to make sure you are well informed during every stage of the process.
In addition to having the heart of a teacher, a real estate agent should also have the mindset of a student--always learning. I'm fortunate to work at an office that routinely brings in guest speakers to share their expertise. I also attend seminars throughout the year and meet with other affiliated industry professionals, including lenders and attorneys, to stay current on changes within the real estate marketplace.
A good real estate agent will also be an advocate for the real estate consumer. I've joined my fellow Illinois real estate professionals at the State Capitol to speak to lawmakers about potential legislation that may have a negative impact on the buying or selling public. Annual meetings between lawmakers and real estate professionals has lead to several State House and Senate Bills being modified or struck down all together before they were inacted into law.
Real estate agents are always ready to work with you when they meet you. A good real estate has already been working and advocating on your behalf before meeting you.
