For the last 17 years, Dixie Power has sponsored it's Dixie Power Kite Festival in St George Utah. This event promotes reading as a habit for children and encourages families to enjoy physical activities together.
For several months before the event children are given calendars to keep track of their reading each night. The children are rewarded for their efforts on the day of the event by choosing one of three options for prizes.
The children can redeem their reading charts for a very nice kite, a quality book, or 10 tickets to the bounce houses. The lines at the bounce houses were long at certain times, so the Festival asked them to bring more! They’ll also have a booth where children will be able to use their tickets to buy an ice cream.
The Dixie Power Kite Festival will be held on Saturday April 23, 2016. The Festival will be held at Dixie State University Encampment Mall, 225 South 700 East, St. George, Utah. Festivities begin at 10:00 am and run until 7:00 pm. Admission to the event is free. There will be lots of vendors offering a variety of foods and activities. A free concert will be at 6:00 pm by "Dixie's Got Talent" winners.
