This past weekend, I did a post and found out that there may be some REAL issues with Blogging and Spouses! Not mine of course, well... there have been days....LOL! In light of a somewhat humorous post I put up on Saturday, I wanted to follow-up with what really happened this past weekend.
When I wrote the post "Mama Says NO BLOGGING," it was somewhat of a joke, but the reality was, my wife wanted me off the work computer, and in the recording studio to finish one of her songs. It's been an ongoing project for the past couple weeks. Music, it's our other "shared" passion!
In the past, I have always written the music, and she does a great job writing the lyrics and performing the songs. This time, she has written the entire song herself. She finally got me away from the computer long enough this weekend to produce this Video. (Amateur of Course) I know you are probably all sick of hearing me talk about video, and Real Estate interviews, virtual tours, mixpo, youtube, etc. etc. But this one is different. Why? Cause it's for my sweetheart!
We used the MacBook Pro Laptop to record all the tracks in our home studio, then we shot the Video yesterday as we drove around the neighborhood. I uploaded it and did a final mix in Mixpo, and here's what we came up with for her "First Ever" Music Video. WooHoo!! I am very proud of my wife and very excited for her, enough so that I just had to Blog about it! I really enjoyed making this for her, and now just wanted to share. This is her passion and dream!
I've written many posts about everything else in life, now it's time to dedicate a post to my Beautiful, Loving, Supportive, Talented, Gifted, Mother of my Children and Soul Mate! My wife Debra! (I love you Princess!) I have never seen her as happy as she was tonight when I played this video for her the very first time. The name of her song is called "All I Need"
Very nice.. She is lucky to have a husband and a Father that loves her very much. Of course, you are equally blessed to have such a wonderful wife. :-) Great song, I shared it with my wife. You guys rock!
My kids and husband also don't like when I am blogging- they want me to partake in more activities with them. I know with the weather being nicer, I will put my blogging a little on the backburner.
Brad...I thought you just started working with AR...what in the world are you doing auditioning for music video production with MTV? That is what this was for right?
Brad - great job on the video - your wife sings really well! The blogging issue, well, my wife and I have an understanding...if she is home, well, I'm not blogging so your situation isnt too bad at all!
This is absolutely incredible! What a beautiful song and a beautiful video. You, my friend, are a man that is blessed beyond belief. I can't wait to see the next production. You have one extraordinary family!
And, Debra? You are a beautiful lady with the voice of a songbird. And your talent for writing music and lyrics is enviable. I wish you only the absolute best.
You have a wonderful family steeped in faith and love. That is a winning combination. God bless you and yours always. Thanks for sharing this with your AR family.
Well this was a nice way to start my day, I love it Brad. It's so cool to have something like this in common with our better half, even more fun than blogging.
Hi Brad, thanks for sharing the video! You did a great job with it. Beautiful Wife, beautiful song, beautiful voice, great performance! Keep up the great work!
Hi everyone, The "Mama says no blogging" thing was funny and all, but as you can see, I have a husband who pours his heart and soul into anything and everything that he believes in. So getting him away from AR for a bit turned out to be productive. Who wouldn't want to communicate with others like yourselves that are so encouraging. Brad loves all of you, but sometimes I'll need him too. :)
This video was not planned at all. My husband stole me for a couple of hours and we just started shooting. It was actually just suppose to be practice shoot for my husband. The recording of the song is raw, rough, and not heavily produced. If it was thought about too much it would not have come off the way it did. In other words, as a woman I would have considered my make up, wardrobe etc. Because there was no planning involved it comes across with a pure innocence that would not have been captured had it all been planned out.
By the way, my husband played all instruments in this song. Guitars, drums, keyboards, and bass. He shot and edited the entire video. He is the star!
I just want to say thank you to him for helping me achieve a thrill and make my dreams possible. It means so much to me. And I want to say thanks to all of you for your kind comments here. This was quite a surprise to see this posted this morning. I was so touched it made me cry.
It's funny how life works...I've learned that you need to go after your dreams with a vengeance no matter what, and not let fear and doubt ever get in the way.
Hey! Great post, and an a wonderful song filled with life producing words. You've touched many lives, and sown great seeds... I'm sure more than you'll ever know. Way to go!
I always know its time to log off AR when my husbabd starts coming by my desk pacing as if he looking for him. That usually means "Will she get off already."
Brad - You, my friend, are a Renaissance man. Debra sounds great, and the video is fantastic. Thanks for continuing to share all that you do here on AR.
I have heard your songs on your posts before. This one doesn't surprise me - Debra is very talented - thank you for sharing that with us! (You as a musician rocks too :)
OMG!!!!!!!!! I just ran google for this and it's already on page one in the second and forth position. Brad just posted this at 2:00am in the morning. Talk about google juice...now I know what he meant all this time.
Okay Brad, this is absolutely amazing. You both did such a wonderful job........send it to the powers that be! Keep us posted!!! Call Oprah!! ;-) Seriously, Brad, I had listened to the song on the other post, but watching her and how you captured the song is wonderful. Remember, we knew you "when." ;-)
Brad your 1st music video is top notch, it seems so professional, don't you just love a mac :) ? I have to admit your wife has a great voice and kudos on the editing, I have to ask who performed the background music, you? None the less overall GREAT 1st video and heres to you for more future outstanding videos, looking forward to it! Cheers!
What a great surprise--- not just to have your page come up again on my computer (for some reason I've had a lot of trouble lately getting your page to appear)--- but to get to experience more of you and your family's gifts! Sweetest song, singing & 'soulmate'--- and a very impressive recording job, Brad, AND all the instruments! Keep reaching for the stars--- you are all such bright ones!
Brad, Wow, how powerful!!!! Great job you two. And what a great ThemThem to your beautiful, talented bride Debra! We'll be seeing her on the big stage some day.
Brad - are you sure that is your wife! Sounds like a profesional singer to me. Great job! Great voice, great song, great video, she is fantastic! Thanks for sharing.
Well done! When is your wife going on tour? Let's get her down to the Vallejo Music theater on Friday the 9th! There is big prize money. I wanted you to perform, but since there is real talent inthe family, let's get your wife there!
Brad- What a talented family you have. If either my wife and I try to sing, our kids immediately plug their ears and begin to rock back and forth saying something like "Hot Water, Burn Baby" or something;-) I'm always impressed by those who have musical talent because I'm soooo lacking in it. Great job putting it all together, you make it look easy and I know it isn't.
This is My first time back to this post! Bob is making me work extra hard for all the time I took off over the weekend to do this Video! He's a slave driver! haha! LOL!~ YOU KNOW I'M KIDDING! :-))
You guys (and ladies) are THE BEST!! You have really inspired and made my wife feel welcomed and loved here. I see she has written her own little post in the comments above.....
Now she wakes up in the morning, and can't wait to read the comments and watch her video. She is so proud of the video and so humbled by all your comments and support...she just hasn't been the same!!!
(and she hasn't asked me to get off the computer since! LOL) Thanks everyone for making our First Music Video one to be remembered forever...It just wouldn't be the same, if it hadn't spent time in the rain!!
Now I gotta get back to work, I have Bob on IM watching me and waiting for my next post! Be back in a bit....
Hi Brad, awesome job by both of you! Debra should be the American Idol. She's better than all of them this season. I just loved the song and the production!
Brad - this is excellent. Wow - what talent! Your wife has a beautiful voice, and I love the lyrics too. Who plays the guitar? Both of you. Congratulations!
Wonderful - the video and the story. I had no idea you were a musician. So glad you were 'forced' to take the weekend off the computer - Debra sings like an angel. And watching makes me homesick for Fairfield.
Brad and Debra, I enjoyed the video! You both did a great job! There are times when it is a good thing to get off of the computer! I'm sure we are all looking forward to more music videos!
Tony - thanks for being the first one to comment on this post! Being our first video, we were sweatin bullets there for a bit to get that first comment! haha! Glad it came from you my friend, and when it did! 5:07am :-) Thanks Buddy!
Mike - thanks, we are proud but still humbled. We have never put anything like this out there before, so it was a test of more than just faith. Some great things have already come from this, and some lives have been touched, this is why we are so humbled! We are blessed...and so are you! Thanks Mike, have a great weekend! :-)
Chip - that was very nicely put, thank you. She is the star in MY life, and she certainly keeps me on the right path with her "Bright Shining Lights!" :-)
Brad - That was absolutely lovely, enjoyable, talented, peaceful - quite beautiful really! It sounds like a hit to me. What are you doing to market this song? Great videography too :-)
Brad and Debra - congrats! You obviously have a very loving and supportive partership and are both so very talented. While you know you have so many who idolize you here - you idolize each other too which is a true blessing.
How talented you both are! This is a WONDERFUL post - a wonderful song and video - and a great example of what can be accomplished with passion. Passion X 2!
Great job as always. Music and lyrics were superb. The video was excellent. What did you use to shoot it? The edit was good too. Congrats on a super first effort.
She needs a good agent Brad like yesterday :) (and I don't mean Real Estate). seriously talk to Adam from NY if you haven't already - he had ties to music productions AR is too small for you both ( no offense lol ) I'd buy her CD!
BRAD - It's amazing what can be done without breaking the bank. Good quality on the video, and the recording sounds good too. No artist has an excuse anymore for not making a video. In fact, aspiring artists should be doing this as a way to showcase their talents. Nicely done.
Brad, Your wife has a beautiful voice and the song sounds like something that could hit the top of the charts. It was so sweet of you to do this for your wife. I also liked the way the video was done. I don't usually watch videos so for me to not only watch it, but see it all the way through was something.
Gail - thanks so much, that means alot to us both. We used AR Video for this one and it tracks how many watch and how many don't. Even breaks it down by percentage. Thank you for the comment and for watching the whole thing. Maybe someday....well....we'll just keep on trying... :-)
Screenshot of AR Video showing percentage of viewers who watched and what percentage they watched:
Here's where the viewers are located:
Man I love the analytics from ActiveRain Video, I have never seen the ability to track this information before with any other video application. Very cool stuff in these very cool times!! :-)
Lynne - thank you, this was our first video attempt, but it was fun and a great place to start with incorporating video to some of our music. Glad you enjoyed it, thanks for watching, listening, and taking the time to comment. :-)
Very nice arraaingment along with a great relationship. Congratulations on many levels.
