Earth Day was founded by United States Senator Gaylord Nelson from Madison Wisconsin as an environmental teach-in first held on April 22, 1970. Nelson was later awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom in recognition of his work.

We are lucky Bob-such a legacy! And Gaylord Nelson stayed in the neighborhood house instead of the Governor's Mansion. Crestwood was the first neighborhood in which I lived when moving to Madison in the 90's.
