April 23rd, 2016 Was The First Sign Of Spring For The Souto Family.

There are many signs of Spring, and most people would associate the first signs of Spring with the blooming of Spring Flowers, which provide us with beautiful colors after a cold gray Winter.  For others it may be a specific day on the calender, or when the snow is all gone and the weather becomes warmer.  While these are all great reasons to celebrate Spring, for the Souto Family Spring does not arrive until the first time the lawnmower is pull out, the snow blower is put away, and the grass is cut for the first time.  This year this happened yesterday.  Saturday, April 23rd Was The First Sign Of Spring For The Souto Family.

This year the arrival of Spring for the Souto Family was on the same day as last year.  Spring is my favorite time of they year so I hope it sticks around for a few weeks before the heat and humidity of Summer sets in.

Wikipedia states that:

"Spring comes in between the 19th to the 23rd of March and at different times. It changes on a yearly basis because the first official day of spring is the (Spring) Vernal Equinox. This is when the sun is directly above the equator. It rises due East and sets due West and does not do so on the exact same day every year, since the calendar is not exactly 365 precise days every single year."

The definition above may be the official arrival of Spring, but not for the Souto Family.  The official sign of Spring for the Souto Family is the sight of the lawnmower for the first time and the smell of fresh cut grass.  This year that was yesterday, Saturday, April 23, 2016.

We mowed yesterday as well George Souto but the snow blowers will stay out till mid May. My birthday is May 16th and I've celebrated it with a spring blizzard several times.

My lawn guy has been mowing my lawn each week for a couple months now.  I know it's spring, because my allergies are in over-drive.

George, this reminds me of my Dad, he used to have SEARS come out and do a maintenance check before the official 1st Moving of the Lawn:))... in my case the Gardeners come every other week and they are doing an excellent job...I know because the Green Bucket is always heavy every other week:)))Endre

Hi George Souto ,  In that case, spring arrived here last week.  This weekend was spent on hands and knees pulling weed, getting ready to plant the garden. We can't plant until after Mother's Day around here, due to the usual late frosts.

George,  that is something I cannot relate to yet I understand it and it does make sense.  It must feel so good for the snow to be gone. Enjoy Spring!!

Good morning George. I'm pretty sore this morning, as I got a lot of outdoor work done this weekend, but the results look great.

Very symbolic George. You have the most unusual and interesting sign of Spring. You must love lawmowing that much. Or the green grass:)

Hi George... when I see things like lawn mowers, I'm always thankful that I live in a community where it's done for me and I don't need to do anything but supervise from the window (which I've been doing for a few weeks now).
