John Dopyera
Thanks for stopping by and taking time out of your day to read my post. My intent is to put a smile on your face. Hopefully you’ll go away with some information you may have forgotten about or did not know. Now sit back and enjoy.
John was born in Dolna Krupa, Slovakia back in 1893. I could not find anything about his growing up or where he went to school and so on. So I guess that means we’ll just get to the point. Can you tell me what he is most noted for? Well in 1925 he was asked by George Beauchamp to create a louder guitar. John invented the resonator guitar using three aluminum cones.
In 1932 he produced the first electrified Spanish guitar in the world. He also invented a string-gripping device on acoustic guitars, which is the forebear to that on all guitars today. All in all, he was awarded some 40 patents. He died in Los Angles in 1988 at 94
