Mountain's Edge is a 3500 acre master planned community located in the southwestern part of the Las Vegas valley. The community will be hosting it's second annual Country in the Park Festival on May 3, 2008, from 11AM to 5PM, that will take place at Exploration Park. Last year's festival marked the grand opening of Exploration Park, a Western Theme Park. Here is the story on the event.
It is a free event and will feature local country and western bands, country line dancing, trick rope demonstrations and a Native American dance troupe. There will be rock climbing, pony rides, bounce houses, mechanical bull riding and more. Country station KWNR-FM radio 95.5, will be broadcasting live and giving away concert tickets to Tracy Lawrence and Gary Allen.
While at the park, you can enjoy all the amenities including volleyball courts, horseshoe pits, picnic areas and walking trails. The kids can play in the Old West Village which features climbing structures, slides, a replica water tower which features water jets and much more.
Several months ago, Mountain's Edge installed four commemorative plaques at the top of Exploration Peak, which is the city's first mountain park. There are trails that lead from Exploration Park to the peak of the mountain, which is 2,846 feet up. Once you are at the top of the Exploration Peak, which is on 80 acres, you will see the plaques in four different locations. These plaques will give you some history of the valley while you get a breathtaking views of the Las Vegas valley. Read the story here.
Head out to Mountain's Edge with the family, to enjoy the Country in the Park Festival. Then enjoy the rest of the amenities of the park and get a little history lesson too! A great way to spend a spring day in Las Vegas!
