It's Monday Morning again ....did you have a good week-end? Today another beautiful spring week is about to begin. MY coffee is brewing, the sprinklers are watering my flowers, and I am preparing for a phone call that I think will finally put my REO House into Contract.....all in all a good way to be starting the week....cool, refreshed, with expectations of positive things to happen. Sort of like spending time here in the Rain.
We give because we want to, not to get something in return. Look at all the sharing people here on Active Rain that have given advice, laughter, inspiration, maybe a few words that helped motivate, or a new tech tool that helped us with our Posts, or our life in general. Then we have the Mortgage guys that keep us up to date on changes, rates, and the inside workings of their business. Stagers, oh we can't upstage a stager.....nor can we forget the Inspectors, or the Appraisers. Throw it all together and we have a Marketing Giant called Active Rain. Gifts given to us every day by everyone here.
The Gifts of
Appreciation Contest
Last week, My Monday Morning Gifts on Appreciation and Gratitude prompted a few of you that wanted to give the Gift of Appreciation to ask for a Contest. Well, OK, maybe I could do just ONE MORE ....LOL, that's it....one more contest. I thought about it and in keeping with the Gift Idea, it could be a nice Contest for sure.....So, with that said, I talked to Bob Stewart about the idea and he gave it the official sanction of a Contest. That means they will do their part and award the winners Points, and Feature the Winner.....
OK, but wait a minute....if we write for a contest on Appreciation and Gratitude with the hope of winning Points.....then it is not a true Gift.
So, here is the kicker......you enter the contest and if you win...you don't get diddly. You just get those warm and fuzzy feelings people talk about.....:) You heard that right.....no contestant will get anything except the true gift of showing Appreciation. It is the people that they write about that will win the points!!! So what is the Contest?
The Contest:
Very simple, Write a short entry on who you appreciate, or are thankful to, here on Active Rain. That's it. Your entry is judged by how well you express your written appreciation for someone else, and they win the Prize....:) Short and Simple....:) Well, except for the judges......they have the hard part :(
Here's how it works......go check out last week's Post on Appreciation . Marti and Neal were the ones I chose to show my appreciation and gratitude to. And if this was a contest entry I would have made both of the Gifts a little bigger (maybe 2-3 Paragraphs each).
The Rules:
- Only one entry per person........and you can only name up to 3 people
- the Gift has to be given to an Active Rain Member (s)
- Write Gift # for each person you write about (example in the Appreciation Post above)
- Tag must have Gifts of Appreciation Contest
- Title must have Gifts of Appreciation
- Entries are accepted from today until Monday May 12th at midnight (AR time)
- NO MEMBERS ONLY Posts!!!! (We want everyone to share your Gifts)
- Provide a link to your Entry here, so we can find you
The Judges:
There will be 3.......keep it simple. I will Judge along with 2 very active Well Respected Members of our Community:

Broker Bryant , AKA Bryant Tutas, really isn't in a Group, he just spreads his charm and wisdom around evenly :) I don't think he'll bring Bertha to Judge, but he might.........LOL :)

The Prizes:
Being I try to be a good community member I will not overwhelm the Active Rain Community Builders by trying to find 80,000 people to award contest points to....so once again to keep it simple not everyone that enters will win points for their entry...the Gift of Public Acknowledgement, is and will be, the Prize for most of the entries.
- The 1st Place Entry will win 1000 points for their Gift Choices
- The 2nd Place Entry will win 750 points for their Gift Choices
- The 3re Place Entry will win 500 points for their Gift Choices
And we **MAY have ** a few runner-ups, solely at the discretion of the Judges, but in no case would it be more than 5, and these Runner-ups would all receive 200 points for their gifts.
*** A true gift is one given without expectation of reward ***
This was Missy Caulk's idea, seconded by Cynthia Tilghman.....I just took their suggestion from last week and made the Contest...and put my own spin on it of course...... LOL :)

You got Bryant to be a judge!? Wow Kathy, I don't think I've seen that as of yet. No guarantees as of yet, but I'd love to submit some type of entry.
