Have you ever tasted honeysuckle?

About 12 feet of our fence is covered in honeysuckle.  We cut the vines off each year, but we let them grown and bloom in the spring for the bees and because we enjoy the smell.  And when it's in full bloom I have to admit that I go over ever now and again and pull out that one little drop of sweetness for myself. I'm not sure I've ever let Donald see me do that. And I'm not sure when in my childhood I learned about it.

We didn't plant this, like the dogwoods that bloom in my woods it was naturally occurring when we moved here and we've enjoyed it.

We've got honeysuckle too - I'll have to sip a little nectar. Take a cue from the hummingbirds, right?  It's almost ready to bloom...

When I was a kid, a neighbor who lived down 4 doors, had a Honeysuckle hedge that ran along the side of his house.  I use to love to suck on the blossoms.

Brings back great memories of childhood. We had plenty of Honeysuckles in the neighborhood. We all used to suck the blossoms. I would be surprised if we left any for the bees.

Brian England just a hint of sweetness I guess.

Dagny Eason at this stage in my life the smell is much more enjoyable than the work of getting to the little drop of nectur and it does smell wonderful.

Sharon Tara I'll have to detail in a photo how that works.

Myrl Jeffcoat I also now enjoy watching the birds and bees enjoy it too.

Rebecca Lewis My grandmother would make us stop with a few and "leave it for the bees and birds"

Hi Tammy Lankford, No, but we had a huge Honeysuckle in our back yard that our dog ate, right down to the roots.  I guess it must taste good.

I have absolutely sucked the one little drop of sweetness out of a honeysuckle before!  They aren't very prevalent here in Arizona but I had neighbors in Michigan that had one.

Aloha Tammy, I can't recall if I've tasted it before but for some reason it seems very familiar and I'm getting a sweet watery taste along with the sent of honeysuckle.
