I received an online lead today that sounded promising. A seller wanted to sell his house, and that can be exciting. Unless of course "the seller" wants to sell his house. In this case, he wanted to know where I thought he should price his FSBO.
One side of me was incredibly annoyed, but another side was entertained. If you were a FSBO, where would you get the information you needed if not from a real estate pro? I have an appointment to show a property in that same neighborhood later today. I know what has sold over the past 6 months, and I know where his property should be priced.
Did I help him? I actually did. I could hear a voice back in the back of my head saying, "we're in the people business." I've said that many times. Obviously, none of us could stay in business long if that's all we did, but occasionally, it doesn't hurt.
He already has a buyer. He was just looking for a price. He asked if I would help him with the paperwork for a percentage. I said I would. So, it wasn't a total freebie, but I wouldn't have known that if I didn't stay on the phone.
Ironically, minutes after that call, a lady called to ask me to list her house. It's a great property with a much better bottom line than this one, but all in all, it was two different clients with two different needs and I was able to help them both. We are in the people business.
