I took this on an overcast day on a rooftop overlooking Georgetown. The spires on the horizon are buildings that are part of the University's campus. And along the bottom of the page there is the old Whitehurst Freeway that everyone who lives behind it is hoping will fall to the wrecking ball. But the Frreway will likely be here longer that it's Georgetown nieghbors.

Georgetown has a recognizable skyline.
Good luck and success.

A lot of people live UNDER it too! I use that highway all the time when trying to get out of town.
Good morning Patricia. I like this picture. Not sure about the longevity of the highway though.
Sheila, this highway has been considered an eyesore for a while now, and it's managed to withstand strong efforts to get rid of it. Should that ever happen, there will be some interesting price increases in many of the condos that will go from views of its support beams to views of the Potomac!
Jay, a lot of people use it, and there isn't much of an alternative to Key Bridge from downtown and Foggy Bottom.
Freeways are a necessary evil in many places across the country. But, I can understand why those living near its path would think it is obstructing their view.
Hi Pat - Great photo - that's an iconic DC sight and a great area to live or play in.
It's been years since I've seen a view like that of Georgetown, but it still looks familiar.
That sure looks familiar, Pat. I always love visiting Georgetown. Too bad that highway IS there...but I bet you're right unless some folks have some real pull!

Myrl, this road is one of a few that lead to Key Bridge - the one leading to Arlington and a major commuter route. Otherwise it would have been long gone.
Dick, were you ever part of the group that lived in "Dark Shadows" in Georgetown? I should blog about it one of these days.
Chris Ann, I took it from the roof deck at Kennedy Center. There is a similar veiw you can get from the DC side of Roosevelt Island.
Jeff, I think that some of the condos along this raised road were built (and purchases) under the assumption that the road would be pulled down
Hi Pat -- as others have commented that's a familiar sight to me as well but from a unique vantage point.
Hello Pat ...
Wonderful photograph with some beautiful old buildings!
