Spring Bottling of New Wines
Beginning Monday, May 5
A truck containing an assembly line style bottling machine will arrive at our winery for our spring 2008 bottling effort. We will bottle eight wines: our first vintages from the 2007 harvest (Pinot Grigio '07, Circe '07, Independence Rose' 07), two reserve wines (Maryland Chardonnay Reserve '06, Maryland Comus Reserve '06), our 2006 vintages of Chardonnay and Merlot, and a new offering we've named Stomp!, from our fall 2007 Grape Stomp event. The bottling process is quite a scene: from loading the empty bottles onto the line, to pumping wine from our fermentation tanks into the bottles, inserting corks, applying capsules and labels, quality assurance checks, and finally stacking and storing in our Case Storage Room. These wines will be available for sale later this summer. Stop by and watch the show!

Live Music featuring Sudo
Saturday, May 17, 1:00-5:00 pm
"Sudo" will play its eclectic, diverse blend of music at SMV. Come enjoy our wine while listening, and you may even request your favorites - wine, song, or both!

Potomac Hunt Point-to-Point Races
Sunday, May 18, 12-6 pm
This year, SMV is a sponsor at the 56th Running of the Potomac Hunt Point-to-Point Races, which benefits Shady Grove Hospital. We will be the only winery, and our sales tent will be in the Paddock of the Inner Course. The race course is near the corner of River Road and Partnership Lane in nearby Poolesville, MD. For more information and directions, visit http://www.potomachuntraces.com/. Come watch the races, support a good cause, and enjoy great wine!
There are still a few volunteer spots open on the SMV Potomac Hunt Race Day Team.
Team members receive free admission and a complimentary bottle of SMV wine, pour tastings of our wine and have a great time. If you would like to join either the Noon-3:00 PM shift or the 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM shift on May 18, contact Kathy ODonoghue at ksodonoghue@aol.com or
