How risqué is your Marketing? Do you think this is a good strategy?

How risque' is your Marketing?  Do you think this is a good strategy?  I have pondering this question for a while now. I have seen Wine Advertisement and the abbreviations surprised me. Well as an example:

WTF has for many of us a definition that we do not care to spell out. Well it is not what you are thinking:

the advertisement I saw stated : Wine Time Friday!

Same three initials on a Billboard spelling out the Military Alphabet way WTF:  Whiskey Tango Foxtrot. It was a movie or a TV show I am not sure but it made me Pause.

Now this one I will not even explain just look at the picture below:

Now with that said I am wondering how beneficial is this type of Marketing? I have seen risque' Real Estate Videos about ultra Luxury Homes in Australia and locally videos pushing the envelope on some Luxury Homes in the Hollywood Hills. Do you think this is a good way to market Real Estate and especially Luxury Real Estate?

Since they were targeting renters, it may have been effective. Definitely not how they would market to sell Mercedes.

Endre, No I do not think is a good way to marketing real estate luxury or not luxury homes. I agree with Dick above.

Endre- it's a bit like pandering to a certain market mentality.  I am not offended by it but disappointed.

Endre that is not an ad I would have expected from Mercedes.  I tend to be more low key :)

Endre Barath, Jr. - I can appreciate it, even enjoy it, but I now look at it from the standpoint of -  if I have to defend it, or explain it, I just don't want to go there, so I'll pass on the risque marketing, or the double play on words. : )

I don't know, Endre.  I do know it gets attention and often a buzz, but as to whether it actually sells the product or turns people off....  I just don't know.

Good morning Endre Barath, Jr. ,

I actually am surprised Mercedes would use this type of marketing..just doesn't seem to go with the brand. Something personally I'd stay away from.

In looking at that photo overall, I realize how much I hate billboards and above ground electricity! These are the new trees!?

Personally?  No I think it cheapens the offering.  We get told all the time not to use abreviations because the public doesn't know what they mean.

While, in general, my feelings are similar to yours, Endre Barath, Jr. ... I think with some "industries" it may be more acceptable than in others.  The "Wine Time Friday" being somewhat of an example perhaps.

The real estate industry?  Not sure it translates quite the same way.  Admittedly, I may be a bit sensitive, as we Lenders are often fighting an uphill battle regarding our public perception , but anything that could further damage or place into question our professionalism and knowledge?  Count me out ...

Gene

An interesting ad . . .  . I'm going with Gene Mundt in doing what's acceptable.

Hi Endre -  I will just say that it probably does get attention.  I doubt that there are any metrics.

Endre,

WTF Wine Time Friday is kinda cute, but not in real estate, I remember a couple of years this guy comes in his tongue was hanging out he was showing a new "agent" in the business the ropes in Katy, I wonder what business is she in again, she was cute but I thought she was more in the escort business if you catch my drift. Hey I got an idea for a blog thanks!

Good morning Endre. The advertising accomplished the goal of getting attention, the rest would be up to the salesperson.

I think we have enough of an issue with the industry being professional without the "spice" added to it.

Endre Barath, Jr. Not sure I like this type of ad.  I don't think it's professional.  There is one here in Florida that reads, "Call us. Your wife is hot."  It's for an air conditioning company.

It is an attention getter and know some agents in my area that would do something like this. It doesn't fit my style and would make me uncomfortable.
