The Jewel Box in Capitola is a fantastic neighborhood if you want to be able to walk to Capitola Village and Beach, restaurants and shopping. It is called the Jewel Box because of the street names like Opal, Crystal, Emerald, Topaz, Ruby . . . I grew up on Emerald Street and I loved being able to walk to the beach in 10 minutes or less.

What's the Neighborhood Like?
The Jewel Box in Capitola has a wide variety of types of homes and price ranges. There are many older beach cottages, 2 bedrooms usually on smaller lots, but in this location the beach is your backyard! There are also charming older vintage homes as well as a few newer construction homes. The size of homes in the Jewel Box usually ranges between 1000 to 2500 square feet. This is a great neighborhood for those who want to enjoy a beach lifestyle while living in a small community where you can really get to know your neighbors and be involved in community events.

You will find coffee shops, clothing stores and more. Mr. Toots Coffehouse in Captiola is long time Capitola establishment, and I also had my first job there while still in high school! You can enjoy a mocha from the balcony and overlook the Captiola lagoon, Venetians and Margaritaville. There are so many wonderful events in Capitola like the Begonia Festival, the Captiola Art and Wine Festival, Wednesday night concerts in the summer as well as movies on the beach.
