Our office handled the sale for Mr *Smith* last October. His transaction went very smoothly along until we got close to closing then we had a hiccup or two on the buy side of the sale. We all know those hiccups happen at times. Mr Smith had already had the moving van load and transport his furniture and personal belongings and then closing did not happen as scheduled. Closings involve the seller, buyer, agent(s), lender, surveyor, abstractor, attorney, title co, closer, home inspector, appraiser, termite inspector, etc.. so when you mix that many ingredients into the mix, sometimes the cake has to bake a little longer before it's ready to come out of the oven.

Mr Smith was sleeping on the floor on an air mattress since his furniture had been moved and he did not want to leave his house empty. A week of that was more than enough and I could tell that it was wearing on him.. I kept the emails and phone calls going.. getting rid of those hiccups. Closing finally!
He was selling here and moving to another town in Oklahoma. I vetted agents in the area he was moving to and referred him to what appeared to be a good agent. Their website indicated they take good care of their clients. We all know that sometimes agents and clients don't quite fit though and this did not work for Mr Smith. He found himself another brokerage in that town and different agent and bought a house.

We had a surprise visitor last week at our office at 118 SE Avenue N, Idabel, OK. Mr Smith walked in... He stayed about an hour. He wanted to say "Thank You". He had a lot to say but he repeated more than once "I just want to say Thank You to you and Don. You guys are way above what I found in other offices, in your professionalism. The other agents that I've had did OK but not like you guys". After the delays we went through with his closing, it was music to my ears to hear him speak of how happy he was with our office.
I don't know for sure what he was referring to and I sure do not think we're above any other office in professionalism. I like to believe that we all operate with professionalism in every real estate office. At the same time, it made my day for Mr Smith to think so. Is that egotistical? I hope not.
