Mesquite Nevada is still a small town, a great place to retire or relocate!

You know those hectic days full of endless and thankless errands?  Too much to do and not enough time ?

One thing after the other, the list goes on and on and on……  Marilyn Teller at Wells Fargo Bank Mesquite NV

I had one of those days today.

Too many chores and not enough time.

I was getting pretty darn edgy!  One more chore!

I pulled up to the drive-through window at Wells Fargo Bank,

Waited for an eternity (about 1 minute) for my turn to pull up.

And how did the teller greet me?

Hi, Virginia, how are you today?

And a beautiful big smile.

Thanks Marilyn, You made my day!!

Virginia- That is the best feeling when you are greeted by your name and a smile. We should do well to remember that as we go about our days!:)

Hi Katerina, Marilyn is always so friendly and quick.  I wish I could have gotten a better picture of her through the window - she is very pretty and that wonderful smile!

Hi Virginia, what a nice place to live.  You've started my day with a smile.  When I moved from Atlanta, I missed the parking attendant at the garage where I parked my car.  He greeted me each morning by name.  It really can make a difference in how a person feels to greet by using names and of course, that beautiful "Marilyn" smile.  Good post.

Hi Virginia, can I use your Marilyn as another example of one of my Cellophane People I mentioned in an earlier post? I think you found one in Mesquite.

Annette - This is a growing town with very few 'growth pains'.  Your parking guy helped make your day positive!

Gary - Yes, I loved that post, everyone should read it!

Virginia,

Just curious, what does your welcome package consist of?  i was thinking I should get something together.

Hi Lisa, It varies depending on their interests.  A basic mail package includes the current Mesquite map (it changes because of the growth here), St George map (30 miles away), Mesquite magazine, 2 newspapers, the tourist maps, subdivision info, real estate flyers, local business brochures.  I then personalize it with info that they have requested an interest in, casino info, recreation center brochure, hiking, golf.  If I know their price range for homes, I include subdivision brochures with floorplans and prices, etc.  We have a mini phone book here, sometimes I add that so that they can check out the yellow pages!  Some of these packages are fairly big and expensive to send!

I also do an email package with links to most of this stuff online.

I have these packages ready to send, in case I am in the middle of something, then I can quickly customize them.

We like spending the occasional weekend in Seattle or NYC when we're on the east coast but there is something to be said for small town America.  Some folks like the anonymity of a big city but small town charm works for me every time.

Betty Jesse - Mesquite is only 75 miles from Las Vegas, so I get a taste of the big city when I need it, but I love Mesquite - I am 5 minutes from everything here.  No Taco Bell, though, we go to St George Utah for that -35 mi.

Virginia,

Mesquite is fun to visit and play golf in. We love it there when we come. People are starting to find out about its serenity and nice feel, though, and hopefully it won't amount into an avalanche of development.
