2008 NFL DRAFT
As i had predicted the Raiders chose Darren Mcfadden with the number four overall pick in this past weekends NFL draft. But i must say i am not happy with the other picks. Here is the full draft overview.
Raiders Draft Tracker
R P O POS. Player College
1 4 4 RB Darren McFadden Arkansas
4 1 100 CB Tyvon Branch Connecticut
4 26 125 WR Arman Shields Richmond
6 3 169 DE Trevor Scott Buffalo
7 19 226 WR Chaz Schilens San Diego State

The Raiders did great by picking the best athlete in the draft with their first pick and will surley kick start our bland offensive play. But overall we did a terrible job draft-wise , we had only five overall picks throughout the seven rounds. We drafted another Cornerback that we did not need and we drafted two wide recievers which at best only one will make the full roster. We needed more help on our defensive and offensive line as evidenced by our league worst 32rd ranking against the run. A outside linebacker was another glaring need that wasnt addressed. We released RB Dominic Rhodes and traded away CB Fabian Washington in order to leave some cap space. This draft is further evidence that owner Al Davis is still running the show which is just absurd. He does have a keen eye for talent but he is drafting as if it was 1967 all over the again. The game has changed 360 degrees since then. I just dont see any other quality free agents out there that are going to fill the gaps we possess.
If were GM i would of drafted an two offensive lineman, two defensive lineman and a Outside linebacker. The Raiders spent alot of money in the offseason on players such S Gibril Wilson, WR Javon Walker, DT Tommy Kelley, CB DeAngelo Hall just to name a few. The reality is that you can not buy a team, just ask the New York Yankees who have had the highest payroll in all of sports and zero championships to show for it.
How did your team do in this years draft?

Well my Pats tried to shore up their  linebacker corp and they needed to get younger. The also dragfted a quarterback which leaves us to believe Mat Cassell maybe not the player they were hoping for or they have other plans for this QB.

The Patriots alwyas draft well and they did it again this year. They drafted another quarterback to keep Cassell on his toes.

I think they will go 13-3 their schedule is pretty tough, we also don't know how these rookies the Patriot's drafted are going to turn out or if they are going to make the team.

On offense losing Donte Stallworth was a pretty big blow.....................

Hey you I saw you in a comment and thought I have not seen Eddy in forever!  I will have to look to see if you have been here all along and AR is just sooooooo big I was not seeing anything from you.

Columbus is odd we don't have a pro Team and being smack dab in the middle we are divided Browns and Bengals (I think more Browns...)  Our news focus is  from the college side, what round a Buckeye went in... sports news last night a 16 year old committing to the Buckeyes.... over Michigan.

Good to see you here Eddy.

I agree with you on the needs of the Raiders, Eddy---They need to protect their two new investments...since both are in the backfield- it would have been smart to get hogs instead of burners...

You build champions through the draft- NOT overpaying for overrated cornerbacks and wide outs.

Maureen------- Thanks for commenting on my post :) Long time no talk huh, i hope all is well with you..............

That kid who commited to Ohio State that you mentioned is a quarterback right? I think i heard about it. A starter from last years Michigan team transferred to Ohio State !!!!!!!!!!! Michigan fans were very upset.

Jim-------- Whats happening buddy ?

You hit the nail right on the head, the offensive line and defensive were two glaring needs that they totally dropped the ball on.

That contract given to Javon Walker is going to bite us in the ass i just know it!!!!!!!!!

Eddy the 16 year old kid and the transfer are brothers.  Their parents are both U of M grads... they showed the kids pictures as toddlers wearing the maize and blue... blue and maize... last night.  Their dad played for U of M... the parents live in a south east suburb of Columbus.

Maureen---------Wow i haven't heard about this story then. Wow i wonder how the parents are taking it? The Michigan - Ohio State rivalry is pretty intense. This rivalry is similar to that of the UCLA versus USC one here in Southern California.

Eddy, what are you hearing about their plans for Michael Bush.  I'm a huge UofL fan and we are all curious about his future with the team.

Brett---- The Raiders are very high on Michael Bush which is exemplified by their patience with his injury since coming out of college. His running style is similar to that of Brandon Jacobs from the NY Giants execpt that Bush is faster. He currently ranks fourth on the depth chart but he will be bounced up one spot to three as soon as they release Lamont Jordan.

p.s Mcfadden will be wearing jersey # 20.............

Thanks Eddy.  I don't know if you've gotten to see him run, but he is amazing.  So much size and power with really quick feet.  You just don't see it every day.  Here is a clip that really showcases it.

Brett---------- I remember hearing about Bush in college and i only saw him on a couple of nationally televised Louisville games. But your clip really shows what this fella is capable of, he runs with purpose unlike other running backs. How do you ex-Louisville QB Brian Brohm is going to in the NFL?
