Runners and walkers of all ages and fitness levels can exercise their patriotism one stride at a time on Memorial Day weekend when The American Legion Post 29 hosts its second annual Marietta Veterans Memorial 5K Run – Honoring Heroes Past, Present, Fallen at the Marietta Square.
The Marietta Veterans Memorial 5K Run event on Saturday, May 28, 2016 features the headlined 5K run; a 1K walk/fun run; and a tot trot for children ages 5 and under with event proceeds going toward American Legion designated charities benefiting Georgia military members, veterans and their families. Phantom Runner registrants who can’t make the race but who still wish to sponsor special veterans that honorably served will also receive t-shirts just as though they finished it.

5K Run/Walk – 7:30am
1K Run/Walk – 8:30am
Tot Trot (5 & under) – 8:45am
The Veterans Memorial 5K Run also doubles as an #AJC #PeachtreeRoadRace official qualifier.
All proceeds raised by this event go toward on-going care and support of Georgia soldiers, veterans and their families where it matters most – right here at home.
After the race, take a few moments to grab a picnic lunch from one of the nearby restaurants and then join everyone at the Marietta Square for a Military Appreciation Celebration! For the second year, Marietta Mayor Steve Tumlin will declare the race day “American Legion Day” and they’d like to share the day with you!
