State of the Art Hot Water Heating System in the Kitchen...

By

State of the Art Systems can become very dated very fast. Does that make them bad? No not really.... I walked into this Open House  today with my clients and say the State of the Art Electric Stove.... I mentioned it to the listing agent and he said forget that look at this State of the Art hot water heating system....

So many emotions went through my head, one I have never seen this before and clearly it looked like it has been around for at least forty years or more. Never the less it was State of the Art at the time and the owner loved it, because here it is forty plus years later it is still there and functioning...

Reminded me of the "dated" kitchen colors of the early 1970's and the list goes on and on what was rushing through my mind. I also remembered my parents and recalled some State of the Art things they had in their home.... needless to say that is not "cool or trendy" today....

So do you recall any other "State of the Art" gadgets that are no longer Hip or Cool or Trendy?

How about some of those green washers and dryers? Or the Pinto? How about "Elvis on velvet"? TV tray tables? The rock wall dividers in the living room? Fond memories of my immigrant youth in Canada.

I couldn't think of any "gadgets" - I was more into things that had to do with cars (can you believe it) in those days, those with the long fins, much chrome, DICE hanging off the rearview mirror, drive-in movies, etc.

I recently showed a 70's home and the elderly owner was there.  She had to show us her ingenious cabinet.  It was rigged so that the ancient mixer was bolted to a shelf that was hidden but could be rotated up to counter height.  Bless her heart, she was so proud of that!

Hi Endre - Interesting, and I've never seen one of those before. We don't make stuff anymore that will last for 40 years.
