You Are the Star
What do I mean? Let's face it, a real estate transaction isn't sexy. It's not glamorous, but it's a lucrative industry that can be extremely rewarding when everyone is on their "A" game. As a real estate professional, we have a couple of ways of doing things. One way is to simply get a transaction done. Sell a piece of real estate. Close a mortgage loan. Complete & write up an inspection. Done, and done.
The other way of doing things is to try to blow every client away. To show them your expertise (without being an arrogant diva), and to do everything you can within reason to make them so happy they tell all of their family and friends about you. You can be a star to these people in what otherwise can be a stressful time.
Being a star, though, isn't always a good thing. Those days when you're stressed, selfish, fed up, and annoyed at the world? Well, like it or not, the spotlight is still on you. You're rude to a client or dismissive just one time? Well, fair or unfair, but all of your kindness and hard work likely no longer matters. You screw something up or make things less convenient along the way? Well, you may still be the star, but you may have turned antagonist.
Whether you're with a client for a couple hours during an inspection, an hour for an appraisal, days on end showing homes or staging a listing, in conversation primarily over the phone handling the financial side of things, or an attorney scheduling closing, when you're talking with anyone, the spotlight is on you. You are the star, for better or worse.
Since you're the star, act like it. Don't be remembered as supporting cast. When the spotlight is on you & it's time to do your job, blow them away with kindness, expertise, and a service level that exceeds expectations. You're not going to create raving fans out of everyone, but those who do see you shining are invaluable to your business growth.
The spotlight is on you. Get to work.
