On May 4, 2016 Houston Community College officials gathered at City Hall for a ceremonial groundbreaking for the new HCC Campus in Missouri City next to City Hall. The project is a $21.5 million, 67,000-square-foot facility will be known as the Missouri City Center for Entrepreneurship, Technology and Health. Completion is scheduled for April 2017.

The new campus on Texas Parkway will replace a facility in Sienna Plantation. HCC officials praised the diversity of Fort Bend County and the skills Houston Community College offers to students and the work force. The Missouri City campus will compliment the nearby Stafford HCC campus.

Houston Community College systems will integrate their campus partnerships including the Coleman College which is the health care science center department of HCC across all campuses. Collaborative partnerships will bring education and resources to all locations through the HCC system expanding opportunities through all campuses.

There is even discussions between Missouri City and METRO to create  a bus route that will stop in front of the new campus to enhance transportation to the campus.

The Sienna Plantation campus was completed in 2008 at a cost of $22M but has seen limited growth and attendance. The campus was sold to Fort Bend County to use as offices, and the 33 acres of undeveloped land was sold back to the Sienna Plantation developer.

That is great news for the local community. Sorry to hear about Sienna Plantation campus. Like everything in life it has to do with location and timing.
