Last year was one of the greatest years that the horse racing industry has ever experiences, and certainly among the greatest that I have ever personally witnessed. The now legendary horse American Pharaoh won the Triple Crown, a feat which some said was becoming a near impossible task with changes to the racing industry.
This year the Kentucky Derby was won by a horse named Nyquist. This great 3 year old baby looked so casual and relaxed as he won the race, that this weekend he will most certainly be an overwhelming favorite to win The Preakness, which is the 2nd race of 3 in the Triple Crown. I would love to see that happen as I really enjoy the sport and love to see great horses emerge.
This picture below is of another magnificent horse named Cigar. Cigar was a multiple stakes winning horse and one of the best of his generation. Here is was at stud on the Kentucky Horse Farm when I visited 2 years ago.
