Rhinebeck Green Fair Was A Hit

On April 26th and 27th the Hudson Valley Green Fair was held at the Dutchess County Fairgrounds in Rhinebeck NY.

The Dutchess County Board of Realtors had a booth at the fair and many local agents provided coverage.

It was a great opportunity for real estate agents to get familar with some of the green products that impact the industry. I spoke to many of the vendors such as:

Spire Architecture a firm that specializes in green design.
Decor & You - Cyndi West Decor Designer. Agents- you might be interested in her Realtor "thank you" program.
Archibald Heating and air conditioning a provider of Geothermal heating and cooling.
Boyd Artesian Well Co. Geothermal Wells

I next stopped by the local waste management company who had a gift for me. A recycle bag and flower seeds. The message on the packet really caught my attention. Per WM, last year they recycled enough paper to save over 41 million trees. Can you imagine that?

I also noticed many cars on display. This one caught my eye.

I then stopped by a booth where I met Karen T. Froehner; her company Rueste is in the building Intelligence business. I was fascinated even by the brief conversation. I am sure you will be seeing more of their product in the future. Please check out their website to see what I mean.

There was so much to see, from green cosmetics, cleaning products, mulch and several governmental agencies providing information on energy saving and the environment to name a few.

What if the green cosmetics don't go with your complexion? Just kidding. It sounds like a good event.

Randy your comment got a chuckle out of my son. Yes it was a great event and many in the area are very committed to going green in various aspects of there lives.

We in the business freely use and understand the term "green," but not everyone understands. Recently I was asked why a builder would specialize in constructing green homes. "Isn't green an unusual color for a home? Don't most people prefer a more common color, like white?"

Glad to hear the fair was a success. Personally, I need to become alot more familiar with building green concepts and products.

Rosario - That is just too funny. Yes there need to be consumer education about what is meant by green builder. Last weekend many had the opportunity to tour the greenest house in the northeast, located in the township of Red Hook.

Derrick - There is just so much to learn. At a fair many of the pieces come together.

I love fairs like this - it's fun to go around to the different booths and see the new products and meet new people.

Sounds like ya'll had some good clean fun!

This sounds like a great event...green venue...green cars...how about green FOOD ...(just kidding) Is it an annual thing? Maybe I'll come next year...=)

Jennifer, I am glad to hear it was a success. I think it's very important for local boards to be very noticeable in the public eye.

Jennifer, you are exploring the wave of the future with the Green Fair. I hear there are even Eco designations out there now to get more educated in this space.

Jennifer, It looks like the fair was a lot of fun. Houston just had a green fair also; although I rarely go in to the city so didn't go. Now if The Woodlands has one I would try to go.
