This tip is a fairly easy one, especially if you're one who takes several trips per year!

Fly one time less each year.  Plane travel is one of the greatest sources of carbon emissions (and global warming). Maybe you could drive or take a train to your destination. Or consider planning a vacation closer to home. To learn more about the impact of travel:  http://www.lowimpactliving.com/blog/2007/08/09/eco-travel-part-1-planes-trains-and-automobiles

Jonelle, I am driving a hybrid. The new Prius is also very sporty. I'm with you. Air travel is getting more and more expensive and complicated.

Hmmm . . . I would love to see a comparison of the air travel vs travel by car. Say 300 people took a plane from NY to LA and 300 others drove their cars, which would be worse for the environment. Those who drove would have other detrimental environmental impacts. They would have to stay in hotels, use towels just one time, create more trash through the fast food they consumed, etc. Heck, even the cooking of the fast food requires a big expenditure of energy. Could be a close call.

Interesting thought.  I do wonder if there would be any change, since the airplane is going to fly anyways.  I'm not knocking it, only pondering it!  I say go green as much as possible!  Besides, I like to fly myself, and my little plane doesn't create NEAR as much as those ones!

Yeah I agree, but a plane is much faster... i leave for Austin Texas tomorrow... Flying the freindly skies.

Jonelle, I have found that unless I am traveling a great distance, it is so much easier to drive.  The airport is one hour from my house, add recommended two hour wait at airport, and I can be as far as Buffalo by the time the plane would take off.  Then, add the new luggage restrictions, and it just doesn't make sense to fly.  Your information gives me one more reason to stay on the ground.
