Waking up to the local news every morning, one of the first news articles I listened to was about the rebuilding of Greensburg, Kansas and how they are doing all they can to rebuild environmentally friendly.
I recently listed a home constructed in 2007 built with the same objective in mind. The sellers, very conscious of global warming, decided to do what they could to build an energy efficient home.
They started by wrapping the home with environmentally friendly spray on foam to insulate the exterior. To insure the home was easy to heat and cool, they installed a heat pump with a back-up propane system.
Inside the home, formaldahyde free carpeting was installed in the bedrooms, tile flooring baths and bamboo flooring on the remainder of the house.
All the paint used on the interior was Low VOC, the windows are thermopane, ceilings were intentionally lowered, extra insulation in the attic. The kitchen cabinets are Maple, furnished by Kitchen Land with smart stops.

This is a refreshing change to all the homes constructed in the Ozark's area. Imagine building a whole town full of energy saving homes and commercial buildings. Not only is it beautiful, but it saves the environment too. All it needs is a Wind Turbine to generate electricity.
