My wife and I went out home shopping today. We're not terribly serious about a move, but as a Realtor I am always keeping an eye out for that perfect opportunity that would be a better fit for my family and please my beautiful wife.

A funny thing happened. Rather than rushing home to fill out an offer to purchase on our next dream home, my wife and I were both feeling a bit more content with our current home, neighborhood and overall situation.

As we weighed all of our options, we realized that our current home is nice, our kids have a huge yard and a cul-de-sac to in which to play, ride bikes, shoot hoops and hang out with the neighbor's kids. Our neighborhood is nice, clean, it shows pride of ownership and it is AFFORDABLE!

I guess our efforts today only helped us realize that for now...we've got it pretty good and there is no rush to make any changes.

It is nice to be reminded of what we have and to be grateful for our many blessings in life!

I agree. I have had several similar moments.  I think it is imperitive to count those blessings every day!

Kirk, it's good you realized the grass is just as green on your side of the fence before it was too late.  There's much to be said about status quo.

As one of my mentors once said, "The best time to buy a home is when you NEED to."

Kirk - If you like your neighborhood, why move?  I'm glad you are staying put.  Sounds like your area is a great place to live.

Hi Rose Lady,

The only reason we start to look in the first place is because my wife yearns for a home with a basement where the kids can play and I could have a workshop and/or an exercise room. We made a major concession when we bought here in not buying a basement home. We accepted that decision as we went for the nicest home in our price range, that got our kids into one of the highest rated elementary schools in the greater Greenville area. I think we'll survive without a basement for now!

If it works and you like it don't do anything to change it. Best of luck.
