Working Smarter not Harder

social mediaWell uhhh .... sometimes!  Here are the 3 things that I have implemented (as in doing it) that I knew would save me time this year.

Let's start out with a couple of blue prints that I needed.

#1 - Time on the internet with social media & posting had to be cut down. Get efficient, get smart.

#2 - I needed to implement (as in doing it) a list of tasks that needed to be completed with a new listing & where it needed to be posted. Instead of reinventing the wheel, I used plain ole' paper in a binder.  No need for fancy scheduling programs but an actual list of where links, posts, etc. need to go for super exposure.

Example of post on AR - send to Google+, Pinterest, LinkedIn, my WP site if needed.

Testimonials - post on AR, my RE/MAX site, Z, my WP site.  It can't be forgotten if it's on the list.

My plain ole' paper sheet also tells me the best times to post for each social media too.  No need for drama, just scribble or scratch out something that works better if you need to.

#3 - This is the toughest one.  I have investigated ad nauseum scheduling programs for all my social media.  I have come up with 2 that helped me out tremendously & hopefully you will benefit too.

mother lodeHootsuite - this is the easiest social media posting platform that I've found.  It works smoothly, easily, I really like it BUT ...... it has only solved 2/3rds of my problem.  The problem is if you have a Google+ account - it does not sync with G+ profiles.  If you are not a G+ user or fan then this turns out to be a great program for you.  Free version will take up to 3 social media accounts.  Give it a test drive & I'm sure you'll be surprised.

Friends+Me - this is the MOTHER LODE for your social media scheduling.  Why?  This is the only program I've found that will post to your Google+ Profile.  The free version is like Hootsuite where you can add 3 social media accounts for free.  Any more than that - pay a nominal fee per month.

So with both these programs you add the link of the info you would like to share, add a possible picture if one isn't there & SCHEDULE it for a future time.

I'm like you.  I like pen and paper To Do Lists.  There's something about writing something down that makes it stick in my brain better.

Thx for the tip on Friends + Me.  I will need to check that out.

I use hootsuite.  They used to allow 4 social media places, and when they went down to 3, it really messed me up.  On hootsuite, you can post to G+ professional page, but not personal (at least in the free version).  I will need to check out your program as that may be a solve for personal acct.

On FB, I've been scheduling on FB platform for my page as it appears to have slightly better reach.

Oh, and I'm getting annoyed that Hootsuite is not showing my pictures.  So, I will need to look into this in August.  (I schedule 4 months at a time).

Debbie:  Yes I should have said Profile Page for G+. That is an important distinction. Thanks for that FP tip.

Roy:  Thank you.

Chris Ann:  I stopped looking for the perfect program & just wrote it on paper to be done with it. Works well.

Pat:  Sometimes you just have to start.

With just about everyone has 10 SM sites on their website, I wonder how the WWW is intertwined with all these sites and followers....

Aloha Lynn, tech these days can be hit or miss for the individual. Keeping it simple and making sure the tech works for you and not the other way around is my mantra. I like hootsuite too, easy to schedule postings at times your not at your computer.

You are way ahead of me with all this stuff. I just slap things on social media willy nilly because I don't have the patience. It all goes into my website :)

A very solid system Lyn, mine is a little less automated and I seldom schedule unless I am going to be out of town.

Will have to try out some of these suggestions.

Thanks

Lyn we have so little time for ourselves and these are all good points to help us keep some of it.... I remember when the Internet was new... we naively thought we would have more time for ourselves...HA HA... so now it is all about being efficient, Endre

I tried it for a time, but I was unhappy with the results.  When I was feeding things to my social media with automation I lost a ton of organic reach I'd previously had.  Now I'm back to 20 minutes twice a day and some really good organic results.

I'm glad you provided your feedback here, Tammy Lankford, ... as I worry about losing control and reach when using these sites.  Good to hear and be able to weigh what others are finding ...

I know my posting is ... to put it kindly ... sporadic at times.  I try to perform postings as I am waiting on phone calls, eating lunch, as they come to my attention ... all contributing to that problem.  And I find it heartening to hear that these scheduling sites work for you, Lyn Sims ... may have to look into them a bit closer again ..

Tammy Lankford,

I am sporatic too Gene.  I do excellent at it when we are not busy.  Then I have 5 contracts at once with individual issues and problems and things get a bit confusing.

Well, trying to do as much as possible pumping out the good content but it becomes overwhelming. I've found they are working well & don't quite know what Tammy means there by 'organic'. I plan it out with what I want - it just presses the button to send it to the different sites. It saves me time. I still oversee everything.

I'm not buying any content BTW, it's all me. You've got enough also.
