Almost Wordless Wednesday - The Who and Led Zeppelin Play at Same Show 1969

On May 25, 1969 The Who and Led Zeppelin played at the same concert at Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia MD. This is the only time these two super groups played at the same event. The funny part is Led Zeppelin was the warmup band for the The Who. In addition, the tickets spelled Zeppelins name as Lead Zeppelin. I believe Led Zeppelin was not very well known at that point time.

I can only imagine if someone has an original ticket with any signatures from either group on the ticket how much it would be worth at a music auction. Music memorabilia has performed at extremely high rates of return for investors  during the last 15-20 years.

Led Zeppelin and The Who are two of my personal favorites . How about you?

Saying this here is a clip of Led Zeppelin playing at this concert back in 1969!

Bob I bet this was a Stairway to Heaven. I am also sure the Pinball Wizard was in attendance too.

I was only 11 at the time. I never really was a fan of either group. I'm sure memorabilia from that concert would be worth a lot!

Hello Bob ...

Great post with some great information and I have some very valuable photographs of the Who when Keith Moon was still playing drums.

Bob, I remember my next door neighbor in New York introducing me The Who.  He would take an album and play it over and over and over.  He did that with Tommy, and I didn't mind.

Bob, I think I only bought a couple of albums when growing up.  I was content to listen to Top 40 rock and roll while in my vehicle going about the Lafayette area.  I think you are right about some serious music fans paying top dollar for memorabilia such as you mentioned.
