Ladies...

On today's agenda is a decision that needs to be made...

I need to find out how many of you would like to take a book break?

I for one believe we all could use it. Please cast your votes...

So far Ann, Ines and Mariana are agreeable to this.

Hi Mariana - I'm doing well, and very happy to see buyers in my area jumping back into the market.  Yippee!!  I've been working hard with several sets of buyers, and I put 2 of my listings under agreement in the last few days.  And I'm still dealing with jury duty.  I'm part of a jury duty pool for another 4 weeks.  Makes for interesting scheduling when you don't know if you can actually keep your appointments or not.

Good to see you here!!

Hi Ladies!

Here's my latest post - Gimmick or Real.  I have some buyers in a sorta slimy situation with a home warranty, and I'm curious what others think about these home warranties.  I'd love to see what any of you think, and what your experience might be with these.

Many thanks!

I have not tried it ona post yet. Probabaly works the same. Here you go:

  1. Write your comment.
  2. Click on the HTML button. This will bring up a new box called the HTML EDITOR.
  3. Find the word(s) that you want to alter.
  4. Surround them with "tags" What is a tag? Here is an example, as I dont know how to explain it...

<font color=blue> This is the sentence that I want to be blue.</font>

(or choose another simple color NOT YELLOW please...) It will then look like this:
This is the sentence that I want to be blue.

or

<font size=large> This is the sentence that I want to be large.</font>

It will look like this:
This is the sentence that I want to be large.

Glad to see you are all doing well. I'm starting to feel a little better about things. I am not spending as much time on AR as I used to. It was a good idea to get away from it for awhile.

Hey Mariana - thanks for explaining that - I will give it a try and see what I can do with it.  It looks simple enough the way you explained it.

This is a sentence like to be green.

Hey, it worked!!!!  Now, to try size...

This is a sentence I want to be bigger.

Well, whaddaya know!?!?!!?!?  It is a little work, and not sure without some help, I'll be able to do this again.  What other sizes for fonts are there besides "large"?

Thanks Mariana!!

There are other colors, but they have to be named via their "cross-platform" color number. For example - the color that I just used a shade of fuchsia, which I typed out like this:

<font color="ff00ff">Colorful Ladies of the Book Club Alliance!</font>
(Make sure you put in the parentheses.)

I haven't been able to figure out more than one size, large, for fonts yet though.  I tried 'larger' and 'largest' but those apparently aren't html words I guess.  I tried playing around with one of my posts again, to try to get it to take in there, and still can't figure that out.  Maybe our little Wiz Butterfly will be able to enlighten us today with that little treat!!    ;-)

The RV show was very disappointing!  They had only about 4 motor homes in the category we were looking in. Plenty of campers, pop-ups but hardly any big rigs! I was bummed! Afterwards we went to Berkley Ma to stop by Marty's RV and walk about his lot. Looked a few that were very very nice but WAY above our price range..nearly $400,000! Oh well we had fun anyway!

New Hampshire: New Hampshire law forbids you to tap your feet, nod your head, or in any way keep time to the music in a tavern, restaurant, or cafe.

Monika- Here are some sites that I found that may give you something more "fun" to write about ... Even though I do enjoy your posts regardless... :o)

http://www.hippopress.com/pubnote/pubnote05428.html -  "... If you can believe it, it is against NH Liquor Commission rules to advertise, post in a place seen by the public or tell anyone over the phone that you, as a bar or restaurant, offer an alcoholic beverage at a reduced price. A bar can eventually lose its liquor license for that offense..."

http://www.angelfire.com/nh/secret/1NewHampshire.htm - "In New Hampshire, you can do whatever you want, if you don't get dangerously huffy about it... New Hampshire is run mainly by Republicans who tote guns. But they're kind enough to donate shelters to Democrats who escaped from Boston when Boston's real estate got too expensive for normal folks to live in."

That's pretty funy Mariana - those are some pretty strange taxes you have there in New Hampshire - I can't say much here, but they're trying to pass a tax change and elimitate property taxes all together and increase our sales tax to 8.5% - I am ALL for it.

The tax thing in NH is odd too. I like my sales tax and am fine w/ my $613/yr property taxes - but if we could get some decent road maintence out here, then I would love a tax increase...

Hey Ines - HGTV has their "Open House Sunday" on right now, and one of the houses they spent a bit of time in was in Miami Shores.  It's a house still undergoing renovations, owned by a couple - Victor and Amanda.  Showed the improvements they've already made, and are still making - they're into their house for $1,525,000, and the agent told them that as is, it's worth $2,125,000, and when they're done with the improvements that they've still got going, it will be worth $2,675,000.  They have what is a huge lot for that area, and it was a neo-classical style home.  Do you know these people?  It was fun to see their house!

Ines and Ann- I cheated. I was reading the 100th featured post by BB and saw that they had this massive font, so I went up to "View" and then "source" on my browser toolbar. From there. I scrolled down through a bunch of HTML until I found their comment. I copied the HTML that surrounded their comment, and Wha La! I learned something new. SO, they probabaly just copied it from Word, but since I never have luck copying from Word, I did it using the numerical font that they accidentally taught me ... Yes. I am a dork. but I am ok with that.

Good Morning America? It IS a cool video, though, I must say. In fact, the artist is 31 years old and had his first exhibition and sold art when he was 10 years old. He does some brilliant portraits - you can find them on youtube: (Here Ines ... for the "Romantic" comment ... :o) )

Hello everyone - I just wanted to share with you that I finally came up with our new website and blog name and hope you guys like it - everything simple and easy was taken here in Miami, it was a very difficult task.  As you may know, we started with www.YourPropertyPros.com  but learned the hard way that we need to spell it out and that it is too long.  We share this so you don't make the same mistake.

So...are you ready?

The new site (it's not new yet...only the name) is:

OK, yes I'm strange - but it's catchy no?  Iregistered all the misspellings of it as well:  miamiism, miamizm, miamiizm

Cool Ines!  I really need to think about changing mine but I'm clueless as to what to change it to!  It is simply too long. Maybe I should buy  the misspelled Monica as well??? any ideas? Currently it is http://monikamcgillicuddytrainer.com/

I had a tough week. Hurt my leg somehow but had to keep on going. Today I hope to rest it. I can not get up on my own or even get in my car...very painful! rotten timing!

Monika - I thought it looked like you were limping a bit Wednesday.  I meant to ask you about it.

Some of my domain names are longer, but they're geographic names.  And I ain't changin' 'em!  ;-)
www.PortsmouthNewHampshireHomes.com  is one of them and I get some good business from that one.  I have a bunch of others, most I use as pointers, but when I come up with a decent name I just go buy it and hang on to it.

We have a BIG, supposedly, snowstorm coming our way today - 6-10 inches here for my areas.  We'll see.  But I am going to the store this afternoon after my lunchtime showings, just in case....I want to have some good food on hand if I'm to be snowed in for a day or so.

Ines & TLW - c'mon up for some good winter fun!!  ;-)

TLW - I haven't forgotten you.......

I agree with Ann about doing geographic domains (and you can forward them to your site) - my farm areas are taken in every which way in Miami, so I had not chance there.   As for Monika - not only is it long, but your last name is really hard to spell....it's almost as bad as Ines Hegedus-Garcia.  I would definitely simplify it - for example, since our team is known as Rick & INes - we also have the domain www.rickandines.com  (just in case).

Can you use something like:  LearnRealEstate or realestatelearning - realtytraining - learnRE....just some ideas - reeducation - realeducation-educateforreal

Evening Ladies!!

Monika - WHAT did you do to your leg?  Is this connected to when you fell awhile back chasing rats?  Or sliding on ice?  Or hiking a real while back?  Have you gone to the doctor for them to look at it?  Stay inside for the next day or so - no need to take a chance on slipping out in this mess.

It's still snowing here tonight.  I think we may really get that 6-10 inches they were forecasting.  So many times, they're just flat wrong, so we kinda ignore what they tell us.  This time, they look to have been correct.

Hi Ines - It was a Sunday, I think, when I saw it, and it was their "Open House Sunday" show that it was on.  I just looked above, and saw that it was on the 11th.  They didn't say who the agent was, but he did the CMA for them and the show to show how much their house had appreciated to that point, and how much more it would be worth when they finished their improvements.  I remember they talked about how large the lot was that this house was on - much bigger than apparently most properties there.  It had a pool, and the pool was high enough that without some landscaping, neighbors had good views of it.  I can't remember much more except that it was a very big house on a pretty lot - I think they mainly showed the back part of the lot, if I recall.  I think it was all on one level, but I can't say that for certain.  Sorry I can't remember more than that.....

How's everyone's market doing?  My activity has definitely picked up - multiple offers, and some over the asking price prices, too.

Ladies...

Sorry I have missed so much. I have been swamped with work, work and more work.

I have popped in here to give you all the heads up.

When someone posts something that attacks another member and reprimands them they are violation of...

<The Active Rain Community Guidelines>

The guidelines are now on the bottom of every page of Active Rain. See the link down there?

It would be in your best interest not to involve yourself in these attacks. There have been several of them over the last few days. Please do yourself a favor stay away from posts like that. They create negativity on this site. The post that was featured this morning has been unfeatured. Why? Because we are obligated to report violations not blog about them.

TLW - I think it's great to now have the guidelines on every page.  I saw all that junk you refer to, and frankly, I didn't understand alot of it.  Blog talk in the outside world just doesn't seem to be in plain English, so maybe luckily for me, I just didn't get alot it.

Regarding the comment you left on my "Unrepresented Seller" post, I was leaving it up there just long enough for Jay to see if he could get the IP address of that person to try to track them down.  When he gets that, he told me to delete both that other comment and his, which I'll do.  I did just send him an email to see if he'd had a chance to get it yet.  It will be removed - it's rude and I don't want it on my post.  Not even sure why that person chose to put it there anyway.

Thanks,
Ann

                                                                        Good Morning Ladies...

Monika...I have my p.c. (short for piece of crap) running, but it's running on a parallel program. I am awaiting Fed Ex to bring me more storage space. Until then I have to be really careful. The info I lost when it crashed is stored in a back up file that could go POOF at any time. I was hoping to have this resolved much sooner. I'm at the mercy of Gateway and Fed Ex.

Ann...Yup. Cold indoors. Hot outdoors. Blog Boy and I spend a lot of time changing the A.C. temp setting when one or the other is not looking :) I'll be by to see your post shortly. I have a few stupid p.c. things to do to keep this thing (my laptop) up and running.

I am very excited about Ines' opportunity. It rocks! And yes, please post links to them all here?

What is a Jim Croning Website?

hey Ladies - here's my latest Project Blogger POST - talk about work!

Mariana, Jim Croning is the Real Estate Tomato - he actually sells a blog site product that is custom designed and offers training to go with it.  It's a little strange because he is also one of the coaches.

Hi Ladies!

Ines - your posts are going to teach us so much!  Thanks for posting the links here.  And we should keep doing that for all our posts like we used to....

Monika - is the snow all melted yet?  I go home on Monday, and I'm really hoping it is. Bear went over to shovel my walks, and he said the sun had melted most of that already at my house.

Well Ladies, I had the distinct honor this afternoon of meeting Mr. and Mrs. BB/TLW - and it was a terrific time!  Characters, they certainly are!!  ;-)             Lovebirds!

I met TLW, BB, Colleen Kulokowski, Sharon Simms, Neal Bloom, Teri Isner, and Nick the Appraiser at a lunch in Celebration today.  Sharon's husband was there, as was Colleen's boyfriend, and my dad and one of my sisters.  What a great time we all had, and there were LOADS of pictures taken, too.  It will be interesting to see how those start popping up on AR.  We also had a beautiful chocolate cake for BB's 50th birthday - LOTS of candles he had to blow out, along with a special gold star candle.

TLW - I hope you found your jug of syrup!

What a fun afternoon that was!!

Good Morning Lovely Ladies!  I love following everyone's latest posts here.

We've got a whopper of a storm making a beeline for us today and tomorrow up here.  It's supposed to be mostly rain and heavy winds here in my area, but a clobbering amount of snow for areas away from the coast. 4-6 inches of rain and 40-50 mph winds here, and we may get a 2-4 inch mix of snow and sleet in addition to the rain.  Some forecasts I saw showed 15-30 inches of snow west and north of me.  YUK - not this time of year!!

Monika (Grammy!) - your post on your grandson was cute!

Monika - hope you had some people at your open houses today - what a gross day, although I did do up an offer this morning after showing in this junky weather.

Ann...

Actually it was a really bad weather day. The tropical storm warnings lifted around 1p.m. I think. The rain has finally stopped but here on top of the hill we still have 40 and 50 m.p.h. wind gusts. The lake is so choppy you could surf in it :) I wish someone would tell the Tampa weather guy about this :)

We just stayed inside and vegged all day. I'm still slowing but surely getting my p.c. up and running correctly. I actually have it backed up now. Gee. Back up on a flash drive. What a novel idea :)

Gotta go. I'm redecorating my kitchen/office too :)

HTML Lesson#3:  How to create a border in your posts
(You Lovely Ladies are getting this before I create a post out of it - Whoo Hoo!!)

Copy and paste this "code" into your HTML editing box (where you type your post)...

<table bgcolor="#e8e8e8" border="3" bordercolor="#000000" cellpadding="2" cellspacing="2" width="100%"> <tbody> <tr> <td valign="top"> TEST </td> </tr> </tbody> </table>

It will look like this:

TEST

Note: The bold sections are editable.
bgcolor= pick a color code for your background.
bordercolor= pick a color code for your border.
Remember: HERE is a color code chart.

TEST= this is where the text of your post will go. Dont worry. You do not need to type your post in the HTML box, just leave the word "TEST" in there and save your changes. Once you are back to your regular editor box, you can type inside the new border/box you created and add pictures - just like normal.

Please let me know if you have any questions. My nerdy little self would love to help you make your posts prettier! Or, you can always ask Nick - He's the one who got me all motivated to figure out the border thing...

We went to a Home Show up in Dover, next town north of me, this afternoon, and then rode around taking pics.  Bear got to see a little sample of what it's like when I see things I think I might be able to use on a post at some point......I think he actually had fun, even though he hasn't said as much.

Good Evening Ladies...

I am right here. I took the day off from AR today. Like all of you I had a really loooooong week :)

I plan to catch up on everything (I hope) over the next few hours.

I have been upgrading my computer and teaching myself more about my laptop and all the different programs I have installed. It's a lot of reading but I do not like being at the mercy of others. Time for me to smarten up :)

I have also been taking long walks in an effort to get my arse back. LOL.

Okay. I have to go read Ines and Mariana's stuff. See ya round the rain :)

Good Morning Everyone!

Monika - is this the motorcycle son?  You have plenty of pretty frocks - I've seen alot of them!  ;-)

Mariana - cute picture of your little blondie!  He surely does look pooped, that's for sure.

TLW - you need your arse back?  ;-)    Did you go back to your fountain to see if it's back there?

OK - I need a little help.  I'm trying to do a couple of those Real Estate Shows, got them all set up, but I can't for the life of me figure out how to get those "View Tour" buttons like I've seen on posts here on AR.  Monika, I think I've seen some of those on your posts, and on others' posts, too.  I've looked all over RES site, and I don't see how to do that.  Can someone here give me a little guidance on how to do that?  I'm working on getting my Flat Matt adventures into a post, and want to include a tour or 2......    Any help would be MOST appreciated!  Thank YOU!!!

Whew! I have been catching up on some reading. Your posts are all so good. In fact, we ALL have become such better writers over the past few months. I think that our little chat room here has really helped - It's always nice to have support. :) Especially from friends.

I totally agree Mariana, we have all gotten so much better at this and I love our chat room - did you guys see how many views we have here?  a lot of people peak in to see what's goin on!

Ann - I didn't even know you were struggling with brevity - that post was not long at all, with the pictures and the spacing and links at the end, it seems long - I think the length is fine.  If you are concerned, do a word count and try to keep them between 200 and 400 words.  You can paste your post into word to get the count but remember never to write your posts in word and then copy and paste into a blog.

Mariana - I SO agree with you about this little room of ours being of such great help to us, and I love that we can list our posts here and that we all give each other such amazing support.  I've learned so much from all of you, things that I never knew a thing about until not all that long ago.  Each of you has played a HUGE role in that, and for that and so much more, I thank YOU.

Ines - my posts always seem so long.  I have to learn to say things in my posts in less words.  You know, it's funny because in person, I'm not at all a long-winded person.  I like to cut to the chase, and also be diplomatic, etc.  But when it comes to my posts, I just have a problem writing short posts.  I have every one of your project blogger post formats bookmarked, and loved how you did each one, and that's what I'm working on - trying to revamp how I do my posts.  I guess I need to start with actually DOING posts, huh?  ;-)

Anyway, thanks for everything - all the fun, all the lessons, all the support.....and so much more!

I got a wonderful email today. "Hi-- my wife and I found you through the Active Rain network.  You look like exactly the type of folks we'd like to help us find a house..."

Ann, I am following close behind ... I am at 91,583 ... I am already putting together my 100k point post, so it is ready when the time comes. Yes. I am a dork. I know that points are a side issue - but this is a landmark!! Congrats to you Ann - and Ines (already) and TLW (of course ...) and Monika (We'll add yours together...)
