Delray Beach- A Debt of Thanks to Those Who Made the Ultimate Sacrifice.

 

As we head into the Memorial Day Weekend, I hope you are feeling as grateful as I am for all of the men and women who served and sacrificed their lives for their country.

 

Patriotism is supporting your country all the time, and your government when it deserves it.         Mark Twain

 

 

 

And don’t forget to remember their families, for they suffered a loss that does not leave and is deeply felt on this day of remembrance.

 

On a different note, while at our local Green Market last week,  I saw others enjoying the outdoors ….

It’s one of the things I love about living in Delray Beach,  If you have to work out, why not do it outside and enjoy the sun and fresh air.

We plan on attending the Changing of the Flag on Memorial Day and spending some time at the beach if the weather permits.  Whatever your plans are, I hope you have a safe and happy Memorial Day.

It's always a bittersweet holiday as our young nephew who was killed several years ago in Afghanistan, is heavy in our hearts and on our minds. We always send prayers to his mom ( my husband's sister) as it especially difficult for her. Incidentally, her other son is also a marine.

Liz and Bill Spear it most definitely is.  I can't imagine what it must feel like to face the threats that anyone serving in the military faces.  It takes so much courage.

Kathy, I always considered myself fortunate.  My virtue of being on a ship I had a clean place to sleep, hot meals and relative safety.  The guys on the ground and doing close air support have my respect for doing the heavy lifting.

Kathy it is good to have the long weekend and all the activities, but the reason for Memorial Day is a sad one.  May we remember everyday those who gave the ultimate sacrifice for the freedom we have today.

This is a very sober holiday in my town with Ft. Campbell Ky here. We have lost so many in the last few years in Iraq and Afghanistan. Even more have been severely injured or suffer PTSD. Familes are affected both ways and we own our honor to all serviceman and their families for their sacrifices.
