Panama City Realty Group | Remembers Memorial DayAnd yes, for me it is a celebration.

There are many, many blog posts all over the internet touting the Happiness of memorial day.

There are others that take a more somber approach and prefer not to have a "happy memorial" day.  I can certainly understand their position

After all, we are remembering those that gave the ultimate sacrifice to protect our freedoms and country.

But why is it not a Celebration?

Are we not celebrating that our country remains the freeest country on earth?

Are we not thankful that those who have given their lives for our freedom and are celebrated for their sacrifice?

I for one am grateful to them all for allowing me to live in a country where I can still make my own decisions and am not imprisoned for speaking out about my government or religion.

I celebrate the lives of not only those who gave their all, but the families who have to go on with the memory of a lost loved one!

And to these familes I say....

Be not sad on this day, remember your loved one with honor and respect, eelebrate the life they lived and I in return will do the same

Best wishes to everyone on this holiday and LONG LIVE THE UNITED STATES AND THOSE THAT PROTECT US FROM HARM!

It is hard to believe we are at the point of the year already, and celebrating another Memorial day. I hope we all reflect on the sacrifices of others who lost their lives to protect ours.

Good morning Jennifer.  I'm making a comment as I'm watching old war movies all day long.  So many who gave it all, on a side note and a sad one so many to follow.

Agree with you completely. Too many posts saying "what's so happy about it?" Really? Aren't there more important things to spend energy on...

We lost a nephew four years ago - he was shot in Afghanistan. I don't think any one in our family begrudges "Happy Memorial Day."

Jennifer great post here is a quote from a well known military figure in our history:

“It is foolish and wrong to mourn the men who died. Rather we should thank God that such men lived”General George S. Patton

Good Morning Jennifer -  I think we can celebrate the contributions that the brave warriors made.  General George S. Patton thought that was appropriate.

Jennifer- I see nothing wrong with saying Happy Memorial Day because yes, I'm happy to live in this country and glad that we have the freedoms that we have.  I am also proud to see that we are also honoring the many who sacrificed with their lives for us.
