An Active Rain idea, "How Far would You Go?"

By

I have read a few posts lately about what lengths to go to for you clients. I have come across a few blogs that member have listed just how many properties they will show before firing a buyer. I have a few thoughts on the issue, again they are only my opinion, and mean no offense to anyone...

Yes, there are buyers out there who are not really buyers. They are just wasting time, looking at homes to get decorating ideas, or maybe to be nosy. There are also buyers that are indecisive and need that extra push in the right direction.

I know myself, a long time ago, when I was a first time buyer, I was extremely indecisive an nervous about the ins and out of buying a home. I shopped and shopped, and finally found exactly what I was looking for.

Recently, we had a buyer who was an extreme challenge. She was a relo referral from the other side of the country. She was here for one weekend only, to find her home. Never visiting Baltimore before, she had not one idea about the area. We did an all day marathon of 20 homes before jetting off to the airport. It was an extremely exhausting day for everyone involved.

With each home we showed, we visited the area, drove the community, even visiting a few health clubs in the communities she was interested in, because that was an issue for her. Yes, she was high matenece, yes there were times I thought our times I thought our time was being wasted. I knew though, this woman NEEDED to buy a home in a specific time frame!

She was a stranger to Maryland, and I can proudly say our Team introduced her to Baltimore. We helped her with housing, when she relocated and settled we took a few hours out of our time to show her the areas and conveniences she needed to see. I wanted to throw in the towel a few times. Yes. I ended up showing over 30 homes. (Even after she was here, there were a few more she wanted to see, which I viewed for her and sent a virtual tour to)

I am not saying I would take any unqualified Joe Schmo around to 10 properties to look at wallpaper. You do need to draw a line somewhere. My time is important to me, I have four kids and run a farm. Yet, I believe in extraordinary customer service to set us apart. Putting a number on how many homes I show is just not my way of doing business. I am not saying it is wrong, just an opinion. I have been burned a few times like the rest of us, yet you can get an instinct most of the time who is truly interested and who is not.

By the way, this CHALLENGING client, raved about our customer service, and recommened us to two of her colleages who are also doctors.
