Low Quality vs. High Quality Content - Smart Blogging

In case you missed it the first time - this is an excellent piece on how to improve our blogging!

Google is BIG on high quality content.. I mean really big on it. Which is good. So many SEO companies use outsourced Internet marketers in India and other overseas countries as their main content source, so all the content is spun (same information, worded a little differently), has poor grammar and multiple misspellings. This is low quality content and no one wants to read it. If the same image, same content and same information is across numerous websites, Google will track it down and shoot it; (organically speaking). Low Quality verses high quality content

To really get that high quality content that Google is looking for you either have to pay a reputable company to write it correctly for you or do it yourself. I can't tell you how many people I have told to write something, anything, from their own perspective because people know when you are just regurgitating information. If it can be found online, it's already been talked about. And I'm sure this information right here has been talked about before but it's from my perspective. It's real and informative. Not spun from 25 other articles that are similar.

What type of information is Google looking for?

It all depends on your client. What is your client looking for and what kind of leads are you looking to get? Are you really providing valuable information to your clients on a daily, weekly or monthly basis? Is this something that they would share or tell their friends and family about? Are you a trusted site and can they trust that the information that you are providing is accurate and relatable to what they need? Are you even talking to the right audience?

Google wants what the people want; authoritative information that gives the user a great experience while they are on your webpage or website AND info that's clear, concise and answers a question. Having images, video, and breaking up the content into sizable chunks, all help the reader answer a solution or solve a problem.

If you're simply providing a wall of words and nothing more than text, people may skim over the information and then leave quickly. You have to give them more information so that they click from one page to another collecting more information and trusting your website more and more. You can do this  by providing funny or interesting images, informative yet short videos about you, the business, how you're going to solve their problem or exciting news your area. Break up walls of words with heading tags, outlines, colorful snippets and quotes.

Adding Value

All of these things add to the value and  authority of your website, your company and yourself. This type of content is the kind that gets linked from other places and shared across social media such as Google, Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Instagram, Linkedin and other social media outlets. As long as your reader can trust you to provide them accurate information, they will come back to you for more information on a particular topic and if you provide them a plan and call to action, they can't help but respond.

Quantity Over Quality

Google wants high quality content and that doesn't necessarily mean quantity. You might have a few websites or blogs but it doesn't mean that you need to saturate them with low-quality content just to blog every day or every week. Sometimes you'll have a lot to say and other times you'll simply deliver the message and get out -  and that's okay. Make those quality content pieces really count by spending the extra time making them great!

You know Lise Howe Everybody thinks they can "out smart" Google, but I don't think so.

Google "judges" quality by the amout of interest a post garners, and they measure that by comments.

Thanks for sharing Lise Howe

G changes their requirements/guidelines so often it doesn't pay to try to "follow" their supposed guidelines.

IMO the best thing to do is create content for your market area and visitors and let bing, yahoo and all the other stable search sites pick it up and distribute it.

Thanks for sharing this Lise, not sure where I rank on the quality spectrum, but enough of my stuff seems to do well enough and I find at least a few of mine ranking well on Google each time I check.
