Single Women Home Buyer Tips

Good morning Ginny Gorman ,

We are finding many woman buying homes before they marry or after they are divorced or windowed. This segment of the market has grown. My son's wife purchased a home to rehab through the FHA before she met my son. He was amazed she was able to work through the layers of red tape, find a contractor and get the job done.

Great topic Ginny Gorman ...how well we know...this is a scenario we see all the time working with divorce.  Many times while women "picked out the house"...the men may have dealt with the other details...physical and financial and this is just like a first time home buying experience for them.

Ginny, great post! It is like taking a car to a trusted mechanic when you are a woman. You better trust the person you go to. 

Great educational piece Ginny. We have been finding there are more and more single women purchasing homes.

I have definitely been following the statistics in the single women home buying market nationwide but so far it hasn't really follwed suit here in my market. 

Statistics will tell you 2 important things about female homebuyers, Ginny Gorman ... 1. There are more single females buying homes than single males in most markets.  And 2, currently female homeowners are not realizing the same growth in home equity that males are.  

For me, that proves the validity of the points you present here.  There's definitely a niche open for agents ... and a great need by female buyers for solid advice and quality assistance.

This is such a well-done post with lots of essential information for single women buyers. Most of my buyers tend to be married couples, with about 15% single women on average over the last several years.

Good advice.  I've helped single women purchase homes--they are usually very educated about the process and what they want.  They understand the benefits of home ownership!

Great post Ginny Gorman!  While my experience representing single women buyers is limited, those experiences were very positive, as they asked a lot of great questions, acted in a timely manner getting documents signed, records gathered, etc., and were very appreciative of my efforts along the way.  From what I've read recently, single women are representing a larger and larger share of the home buying public.
