Six hundred new jobs are opening up in Downtown Tucson with the arrival of regional headquarters for Caterpillar. Many employees will be relocating and have questions about homeownership in Tucson, AZ.
I thought it might be a great idea to address some of these questions within my blogging posts.
Question #3: If we want to downsize from our current housing situation, what condominium options exist?
Depending upon where you are located currently, names for different styles of housing take on new meaning. There are garden homes, patio homes, townhomes, condos, flats, lofts and many more. What do these terms mean in Tucson AZ and are they available?
Garden homes - no personal yard, garage entry from rear of home along alley, shared front "courtyard" or sidewalk area. Common areas maintained by association. (Homeowner's fees apply)
Patio homes - Often built along the edge of a golf course. Homes feature expanded outdoor living options in their back yards, which feature golf, mountain, or sunset views. Attached garages. El Conquistador in Oro Valley has patio homes for sale; Property owners may use Hilton pool & fitness center for fee.
Townhomes - have a common wall with another residence. Generally one story, with homeowner's association governing common areas. Homes typically have small backyard patio or courtyard areas, which are maintained by the homeowner. Front yards often belong to common area, unless there is a wall deliniating personal property. Generally have attached garages. Roof maintenance and exterior paint may or may not be an owner responsibility.
Condos - much like an apartment building. You own the space within the walls, can be more than one story, open or covered parking spaces unattached to home. Typically come with washer/dryer hookups. Homeowners Association maintain common areas, pool, parks, etc.
Flats and Lofts - much like apartments or condos. Can be for rent or for sale. Can be multi level. Trendy, downtown living available. Availability opportunities at Barrio Metalico Lofts, Indigo Modern Lofts, Ice House Lofts, 44 Broadway, Julian Drew Flats, Academy Lofts, Culla di Arte Lofts, Don Pedros Lofts, Silverado Flats, etc. Depending upon each settlement, Homeowners Association maintain common areas, pool, parks, etc.
Please call for details - these can be challenging to find online. Cara Mancuso 520-909-2988
