On the same day of The Kite Surfers - Mokuleia Beach on the North Shore of Oahu we stopped by Dillingham Airfield on the North Shore of Oahu (Honolulu County) to see if there were any skydivers or sailplanes taking off or landing.

Dillingham Airfield was fully utilized during World War II. Over the years it was an Army Air Field and an Air Force Air Field and finally closed but used for civil use in the 1970's.

In a joint agreement with the military and the State of Hawaii it continued civil use and in the late 1990's until present there are the skydiving and sailplane rides. The gliders and many private aircraft are based here as well.

Well, here's a video I put together with skydivers we caught in action. What a treat!

If you are planning a Hawaii Visit or a Hawaii Relocation and you are one to skydive or go on a sailplane ride the following information is available to make your reservations:

Sally!~

Just one question comes to mind...have Youtried this sky-diving /or sky-sailing??? ??? Let me know. I wonder how it feels from "up there" as opposed to safely watching from the ground...

The video is really a nice format. I had signed up with the site some time ago but they never acknowledged and I could never get back in? Did you shoot the video with the flip? I notice the still picture had bright blue in the sky and the video looks like cloudy sky. The same thing happened when I experimented with it. It was so sunny and bright I could see without sun glasses, the video though looked dull and cloudy and just the opposite was true.

Missy: Hey...it's better than youtube...professional wise. I like the format too. Youtube made us look like we had wide stretched faces...I guess it's in wide screen stuff. lol!  Anyway, I think the flip is better for close interviews...not to zoom in on stuff way up or out ....

Yes, this I can do (as opposed to sky diving).   Sally, you keep piling up the reasons for me to re-visit Hawaii!  I'll make you a deal:  you come visit me in Myrtle Beach and I'll come visit you in Hawaii.  What do you say?

Sally, looks like fun, but my wife told me that if I wanted to go skydiving I needed to do that before we got married.  Yet, in the past year, I've gone whitewater rafting on Class 5 rapids, and gone up in a WW-I open cockpit biplane and done loops and somersaults in the air!  Next adventure?  Who knows!
