Are you thinking about selling your home in 2016? If so, you’ve come to the right place.

Regardless if you’re selling a home in Southern California or elsewhere across the United States one of the keys to success with making a home appear to be more desirable to home buyers is to have a well-organized kitchen.

In this post we will share with you our tips for creating a well-organized kitchen so that you can sell your home and accomplish your Real Estate goals.

Step 1 – Purchase Matching Appliances  Organize Kitchen

The first step to creating a well-organized kitchen is to purchase or rent matching appliances because a kitchen that has a dish washer, refrigerator and microwave that are not the same colors or styles looks unorganized regardless if you recently spent thousands on new cabinets and counter tops or not.

Step 2 – Empty Your Kitchen Cabinets

After getting matching appliances for your kitchen you should next focus on organizing your cabinets and then do the following:

  • Purchase baskets and group similar items together like the items you would use for baking, boxes of pasta, spices, cereals etc.
  • Place items on lower shelves that you use regularly like: daily dishes, glasses, pots and pans while items like your Grandmothers dishes should be placed on higher shelves.
  • Get rid of extra boxes by pouring the contents of those boxes into storage containers. This will help to keep your cereals, sugars, corn starch and flour fresh while helping your kitchen cabinets to look organized.

Step 3 – Use That Vertical Space

During the process of organizing their kitchen many people make the mistake of thinking that they don’t have enough cabinet space but the reality is that if your cabinets are very tall you can still organize your kitchen while making use of that vertical space.

Consider investing in hooks to hang your pots, pans and kitchen utensils in your cabinets or stackable boxes for you to place your cans of fruit and vegetables or other vertical storage solutions that help you to take advantage of the height of the cabinet.

Step 4 – Clean Out Your Refrigerator

Last of all, but most important, as you are focusing on creating a well-organized kitchen you should also turn your attention to your fridge and give it some love.

Focus on cleaning your fridge from top to bottom then invest in Tupperware containers or Pyrex glass bowls to make sure that your leftovers and or perishables are stored neatly away so your fridge doesn’t look unorganized and cluttered if a prospective home buyer opens it as they are touring your home.

These are very good reminders for home sellers. The kitchen is one the areas in the house that needs a lot of tidying up if you're selling your home. Thank you for sharing this.
