Too long in that position could be deadly. I hope someone gave him a little help.
Joanna,
That's the perfect title for that poor creature. I hope the rescue came just in time! I would have done the same thing! When I was on the East Coast, lost because of Hurricane Bob, I woke up to find myself in a hotel on the beach that was evacuated. There were starfish all over the beach and my kids and I spent the day picking them up gently and putting them back into the ocean.
Looking at it on the flip side, it's quite an amazing creature! In looking at the photograph, I couldn't find the head! Quite honestly, I never saw a horseshoe crab that large before on the beach! I think I'm long overdue for a walk on the beach...
Hi Joanna... a very short term affliction for sure! My brother lives in Ocean City, New Jersey, by the way. I know it well. Spend a number of summers there while in college.
Hi Joanna, he's a lucky guy to be founded by you. He's famous in the AR community now. Ocean City was a place I visted every summer for couple of days while living in NY, miss it A LOT!
My first thought was, Oh, no! He can't get where he wants to go!" Then I saw that your friend felt compelled to help....love that!
Thanks so much Michael Jacobs - somehow, he just didn't read the memo! Have a great day and weekend too
Hi there Ron and Alexandra Seigel and Joe Petrowsky - we all get by with a little help from our friends!!!
No Kathleen Daniels - he was very much alive and well when last seen headed back into the water.
Yes Nina Hollander and Beth Atalay - Ocean City is really lovely and I go a few times each summer with my girlfriend and we really enjoy long walks on the beach and exploring - we come across lots of creatures and this horshoe crab Patricia Feager was definitely enormous.
And yes to you Debbie Reynolds and Gayle Rich-Boxman Fishhawk Lake Realtor (503)755-2905 - my friend Donna helped him get on his right side and we both carried him back to the water where we hope he got back on track!

Joanna- interesting!!!! I was going to ask what it was but now I know!! Glad you were able to right him.
JC~I was in the barn and found two mice who sadly were departed, but they were holding each other....it made me wonder how they knew, what they felt, if they did that to keep each other safe...life is funny.
