Green Trails is a large sub-division with several ponds; walking paths and smaller lots.
It was built in the 1980's on land that was once owned by the monks at the adjoining abbey, St. Procopius. The abbey originally purchased the land in 1896 from the Morris Neff family.
The streets are narrow and winding with many cul-de-sacs so you can't speed thorough the sub-division. On the east side is both a pond and part of the DuPage Forest Preserve. There are deer, racoons, coyotes, foxes and other assorted wild life in the forest.
The homes are in areas according to the original builder's pricing. Some of the more expensive sections are heavily treed and may have views of ponds. Some of the 'starter' homes whose prices are now over $300,000, may back up to College Road or Green Trails Road which has heavy traffic.
The most favored home style is the traditional 2-story with full basement and a 2-car garage. Although there are some 3 bedroom split levels, they're in the minority. And there is a small section devoted to condo units whose prices are around $200,000.
Green Trail's children attend Naperville schools, and Kennedy Junior High, on the south east of the sub-division, has a high number of Green trails children. In addition, Green Trails is close to both the Lisle train station and I-88.
