Blue Ridge Georgia Cabin Rehab

By
Real Estate Agent with Re/Max Around The Mountains
The area I live in has many cabins that are 20+ years old and most of them have a few issues. Most Home Inspectors(and I use that term kindly) only have a 2 week course of study and a certificate of completion from a RE school. There is no way they really know what to look for in a log home with a little age. If one is looking at an older log home he or she had better get an old log home expert to look at it, not a brand new mortgage company approved card carrying inspector

Amen to that.  Unfortunately, there are a lot of people in the real estate business - as agents, lenders, and inspectors - who really have no business being on their own.  The requirements should be more stringent.

I have to agree, there may be lots of problems like wood eating insects and dry rot. This is a photo I took of carpenter bee that found a nice home in the siding of this cabin in the woods.
