3rd Annual Triangle Green Home Tour May 3rd & May 4th

I was surfing through my bills this morning and Progress Energy had an insert worth reading this month.  My Green Builders Initiativehusband Mauro is very conservative and interested in all things "GREEN".  In addition, my daughter Jordan is taking AP Environmental Science this year and she is really excited about GOING GREEN. So, it's my turn to jump on board and get with the latest trends in environmental construction.

As luck would have it the Home Builders Association of Durham, Orange & Chatham Counties and the Home Builders Association of Raleigh-Wake County are sponsoring the 3rd Annual Triangle Green Home Tour this weekend May 3rd and May 4th around the Triangle. There are 40 homes on the tour!!  You can pick up a guide prior to the tour or click here for a self-guided tour.  A map of the locations around the triangle is also provided.

The builders tour is a part of a nationwide initiative called the Green Building Initiative.  For more information on Why Build Green start here

I have included a video done by the Community Benefits Coalition discussing the benefits of a new rating system to judge green builders in the area.

Keep this in mind and think green!

Sounds like a great show for people looking at new constuction.  I've been thinking Greener but other the low energy bulbs I'm not sure how I can save in my house.  Utility costs are out of control!

We need to keep learning more and more about Green what a great way to advertise for Progress. I will try and hit them in my area.

North Carolina must be the very greenest state on Active Rain!

Our city is late to the "green party" but at tonight's city council meeting, you could see a definitive effort being made with a new commercial development.  Of course with record energy costs and heavy flooding a year ago which brought in FEMA for several months - its after the horse has escaped from the barn!

I just added the Triangle Coalition Video explaining the importance of "going green" and the efforts to implement a new rating sytem to judge green builders.
