I had a little time this week between meetings so I stopped in at City Park to take a few photos.  Spring is definitely in the air inDenver City Park Denver, the flowering trees are blooming, the grass is greening up and even the ducks and geese seemed to be celebrating.

I don't get extra time in the city very often, so it was a treat for me.

So far this week, the weather has been really nice in Denver.  A little overcast here & there but warm and mild.  But it sounds like tonight yet another cold front is going to blow in and we will have some rain or snow tomorrow.  Rain I can live with, but I am officially now tired of snow.

Even if it snows, I highly doubt it will stick to the ground - maybe the grass if its cold enough, but it would have to be a really big storm to get accumulation on the street.

Tomorrow is May 1st.  I can accept some flakes in April, but I do not really care for them in May.  It goes with the territory though.

I hope the bad weather doesn't take the blooming trees too soon.  They really are just glorious right now, and it would be nice to enjoy them a bit longer.  There are still some that need to bloom.

If you are moving to Denver, April is generally a mixed bag of weather.  You are going to have glorious spring days that stretch near 80 but you are also going to see snow.  Snow is not unheard of in May, but we start to say good-bye to the cold for good then.

I never go far from home in the spring in Denver without a coat in my car - the weather can and will turn on a dime.  On 70 degree days I wonder why we still have winter coats in the closet, but it can be the very next day that they are needed again.

These photos were taken in Denver's City Park, mostly on the side behind the Denver Museum of Nature and Science

If you too want to take a photo with this view of Denver, climb the museum's stairs for the best vantage point.  Or better yet, bring your camera with you when you visit the museum and go out the back balcony.  That is the best spot of all.   These were not taken from that balcony, I didn't have enough time on this pop-in to City Park.

4 Comments on Living in Denver - Spring in City Park

Steve, our trees are in bloom now too, and we woke up to frost. All the people that planted their annuals had to cover them last night.
